Work Type: Active – Benefit Eligible and Accrues Time Off
Exempt: No

Work Schedule: M-F with Rotating Weekends/Holidays
Work Hours per Biweekly Pay Period: 80

Shift Time: First and Second Shifts available/ 6:00 am – 2:30 pm and 2:00 pm – 10:30 pm


Position Summary

Summary:

The Telecommunicator position works in our Medical Contact Center and quickly answers a high volume of emergency and nonemergency calls. The team also delivers consultations to providers, maintains provider and on-call team schedules, pages staff, and performs other duties as assigned. This position requires you interact in a positive and cooperative manner with your co-workers, respond in a professional manner to all callers, work as a team, and function under intense pressure.


Position Details

Standard Work Duties: Telecommunicator I

  • Provides exceptional customer service by answering calls with speed and courtesy. Completes call in an efficient manner.
  • Ensures that messages are clear, complete, accurate, and delivered in a timely and prompt manner.
  • Ensures that call changes are loaded promptly.
  • Responds to and announce STAT and Emergency calls and situations with speed and accuracy.
  • Responds to adverse customer situations in a calm and professional manner.
  • Immediately notifies department leadership of any equipment malfunctions, procedural violations or personnel issues.
  • Collaborates and communicates effectively with all team members.
  • Actively participates in team development, achieving dashboards, and in accomplishing department goals and objectives.
  • Provides relief coverage for PBX side.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Candidate must possess the ability to:

  • Speak clearly and comprehend
  • Concentrate under stress
  • Coordinate a number of activities at the same time under stress
  • Respond quickly with little notice in the event of an emergency or unexpected staffing shortage
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Represent Lakeland Regional Health with a positive, professional image
  • Read and write English
  • Communicate effectively orally and in writing with a wide variety of people under stressful conditions
  • React quickly, calmly and with good judgment during emergency and non-emergency situations
  • Operate a computer and phone system
  • Process calls according to the department SOP

Demonstrate a keyboarding proficiency of 35 wpm with minimal errors
