Job Description
We are seeking experienced Technicians (and apprentices who want to learn) to perform the planning and installation of the SCS (Structured Cabling System) and complete Copper and Fiber Optic cabling systems including terminations, splicing, maintenance, testing and troubleshooting.
This position requires a high degree of specialized expertise and skill in maintaining established standards of quality and accuracy. No experience is necessary for apprentice level positions.
We are interested all levels of experience and willing to train less experienced individuals to achieve various levels of BICSI certification.
Responsibilities will vary depending on training, skill set and experience
- Perform the planning and installation of the SCS (Structured Cabling System)
- Complete Copper and Fiber Optic cabling systems including terminations, splicing, maintenance, testing and troubleshooting.
- Operate and maintain a Certification Meter (Ideal Lantek or Fluke
- Network DSX), Power and Light Source Meter for testing multi‐mode and single‐mode, termination for copper and fiber installations
- Understand site drawings, translate them, site work layout, data rack layout, grounding and bonding of SCS systems and components
- Recognize potential problems and report to the Project Manager, ability to recognize and propose potential solutions
- Experienced Techs will supervise and mentor Apprentice Installer I, Installer II, and any other team member/crew
Qualifications
Qualifications can vary from apprentice level to experienced BICSI certified Technicians, but below is a list of some of the key qualifications.
- All applicants should have the following qualifications:
- Must be comfortable using modern technology including MS Office Suite
- Ability to maintain a safe and clean work environment
- Team player with the ability to work well with others and independently
- Good problem solving and decision-making skills
- Goal oriented, self-motivated and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Must pass security clearances to work in schools, prisons and government facilities
- Flexibility to participate in On Call duties for lead technician
- Must be able to lift over 50 lbs., and meet the physical requirements such as safely climbing ladders, bending, stooping and maneuvering within confined spaces
- Experienced installers should have the following (or be willing to learn):
- Minimum of five (5) years field experience and successful completion of BICSI Installer I and II Copper and Fiber Training or industry equivalent
- Is qualified to perform the planning and installation of the SCS (Structured Cabling System)
- Possess skills to complete Copper and Fiber Optic cabling systems including terminations, splicing, maintenance, testing and troubleshooting.
- Ability to understand site drawings, translate them, site work layout, data rack layout, grounding and bonding of SCS systems and components.
- Ability to recognize potential problems and report to the Project Manager, ability to recognize and propose potential solutions.
- Ability to operate and maintain a Certification Meter (Ideal Lantek or Fluke Networks DSX), Power and Light Source Meter for testing multi‐mode and single‐mode, termination equipment for copper and fiber installations.

Pay: $15.00 – $25.00 per hour
