- Run Single and Multi-Mode fibers in Hubs and Cabinets through fiber management trays.
- Ensure ALL fibers are labeled and documented correctly
- Record all light level readings to ensure they are within the threshold of normal operation for that piece of equipment
- Ensure that ALL documentation is filled out in its entirety upon completion of any job in the hubs or cabinets.
- Run PON launch fibers before PON release.
- Use JDSU meter to troubleshoot fiber and run RFC tests
- Relay ALL fiber jumper connections and designs to Plant Records.
- Assist the Light Testing Team with any “low light” concerns.
- Assist the Splice Team with any outages, additions, or repairs to OSP (regarding light and/or levels).
- Assist the Network Engineering Team with any replacements, upgrades, additions, initial configurations, or equipment preparation.
- Assist the Network Engineering Team and NTAC with overnight maintenances on a regular basis, in Lincoln, Omaha, and Bellevue Data Centers.
- Complete installs that require Accedian NIDs (1 GB and 10 GB), usually ICB orders.
- Design and qualify GPON turn up for ALL distributed splitter, Single Tenant, and MDU splitter deployment.
- Assist in new market turn ups
- Other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Associates degree or 2-4 years of equivalent work experience
- 1+ years performing Installations in a business environment.
- 2+ years of Telecommunications experience
- Experience testing and terminating Cat 5 and Cat 6 wiring
- Personal drive, initiative, and resourcefulness
- General understanding of communication applications.
- Basic knowledge of computer applications such as Excel & Microsoft Word
- Ability to operate company vehicle and driver’s license in good standing, able to pass a drug screen.
