As a Utility Construction Foreman at Holtger Bros., Inc., you will perform the essential work of installing and maintaining the telecommunication lines that keep our communities connected. HBI is a family-owned and operated telecommunications contractor that has been in business since 1946. We are continually growing and looking to add skilled workers to our team. An OSP Foreman should be a self-starter who is a hands-on contributor, both individually and as part of a larger team. They will be required to lead their crew to ensure safety and maintain quality control and timely execution of fiber construction projects.
OSP Foreman Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain a safe environment and ensure all safety standards are met by working alongside crew members to direct and assist in project tasks.
- Verify all underground mark outs and utilities to avoid damages
- Read blueprints and plan proposed routes for fiber placement while gathering info on poles, ROW, and HH placement
- Communicate respectfully with business and home owners to resolve any issues arising from projects on their property.
- Communicate daily with superintendent and project planners, providing updates on progress, requesting change orders, and reporting any issues.
- Make field decisions on constructability of plans required and present solutions when obstacles arise.
- Teach, train, and mentor crew members to develop their skills and ability to contribute to overall company goals and objectives.
- Travel in a company-provided truck to projects in Southeastern Wisconsin.
OSP Foreman Qualifications:
- Two or more years of new-build fiber construction experience
- Able to operate a variety of heavy equipment to include Vermeer and Ditch Witch drills as well as corresponding locators
- Demonstrated attention to quality construction practices and ensuring timely closeout and delivery of the project schedule
- Able to perform manual labor functions, walk on uneven ground, work in tight spaces, and work outdoors in all weather conditions. Hold a valid driver’s license and an insurance acceptable driving record. Class A CDL preferred and worth additional compensation.
- Must pass a customer-driven background check
