Position Description:
Project Managers are responsible and accountable for all Technical/Functional, Project, and Client management specific to a project/program. Project Managers demonstrate technical expertise and leadership and should have a thorough understanding of the commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures in electrical and/or civil engineering environments, preferably in the utility industry. Project Managers are able to rely on their experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals and are expected to be able to identify, initiate and implement changes to project/program documentation as well as corrective actions. Their focus is on overall program/project performance and a failure to achieve their objectives will have a major impact on the project/program, the customer, and the organization.
The Project Manager:
- Manages the entire life cycle of a function(s), project(s), program, and/or customer, from set-up through execution to closeout
- Provides comprehensive oversite of all aspects of the project/program, including personnel, technical specifications, delivery systems, and client management
- Reviews and approves project scope, schedule, and budgets.
- Develops and initiates implementation plans
- Sets priorities based on resources available, costs versus benefits, implementation schedule, and/or other limitations
- Identifies resources required, initiates requests and manages their allocation
- Maintains project schedules
- Coordinate, communicate, and document stakeholder interactions
- Identifies, analyzes, and responds to project risks
- Adapts plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges
- Is responsible for quality review and corrective actions as appropriate
- Serves as the key customer contact, maintaining relationships and resolving customer issues; may deal with very sensitive relations
- Develops client proposals and change orders
- Provides market segment support
- Is responsible for performance management and disciplinary actions
- Optimizes the use of personnel by leveraging strengths, ensuring associates have the tools and training to do their jobs, providing coaching, and delivering metrics
- May fulfill the role of Project Supervisor and Program Admin as necessary

- Education*: H.S. Diploma or equivalent is required. Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree is preferred, but not required;
- Experience*: 7+ years of relevant industry experience, 3+ years of Project Management experience

- Comprehensive field, drafting, and/or design knowledge
- Demonstrated leadership skills
- Experienced with basic concepts, practices, and procedures used in the management
- Strong technical knowledge and skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to develop plans and organize work to ensure efforts are focused, resources are aligned, progress is monitored, and targets are met.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work within a team, establishing and sustaining relationships with colleagues and employees at all levels in the company
- Basic financial skills to assist in making sound business decisions
- Ability to learn and operate customer based proprietary software and other computer systems
- Able to work in all weather conditions
- Available during the core work hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and occasional evening and weekend work may be required as duties demand.
- Willing and able to travel regularly, including overnight travel
- Dependable transportation and valid driver’s license and insurance
- Able to pass a background check/drug test/driving record check
- Computer literate – especially Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook
- Authorized to work in the United States
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to endure frequent, lengthy periods of sedentary work and sit for prolonged periods of time, including sitting at a desk and driving in a vehicle.
- Must be able to utilize a computer keyboard, computer monitor, and telephone for prolonged periods of time.
- Must have the physical ability to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing notes, and viewing a computer terminal; these activities require close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Must have the physical ability to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word and convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, often in a group setting.
- Must have the ability to receive detailed information through oral and written communication.
