Data Communications Technician

Full Job Description

Communications/Low-voltage Technician wanted for a local communications contracting company. Looking for a well-rounded, self-motivated individual with knowledge in multiple technology disciplines who possesses strong attention to detail, is willing and able to learn new skills quickly, and is able to work under pressure. Technician will be working in a variety of environments including commercial, office, retail, hospitality, healthcare, education, and government settings. Technician must be able to work alone, with minimal supervision, and in team situations with a variety of team members and customers while exhibiting professionalism and strong oral and written communication skills.

Job Responsibilities:

• Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions, including ability to read floor plans, circuit schematics, and manufacturer’s technical instructions
• Exhibit good communication skills and patience with staff and customers
• Completing required job documentation and deliverables
• Installing, servicing and troubleshooting Burglar Alarm, Access Control and CCTV systems. Programming experience a plus.
• Troubleshooting computer hardware, software, and network connectivity
• Installing, servicing, and troubleshooting audio/visual equipment
• Installing, servicing and maintaining voice and data cabling systems
• Working with copper and fiber terminations

Applicant Requirements:

• 2+ years Low-voltage/electrical cabling experience
• 2+ years experience with Microsoft Office
• Familiarity with general industry concepts, practices, and procedures.
• Clean background check & drug test
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
• Physical abilities: Able to lift 55+ lbs., able to work from ladders and lifts of various sizes, and able to work with hands/mechanical skills.
• Able to work flexible hours
• Must be able to see wire color and interpret color coded connections
• Professional appearance
• Willing to travel
• Must have basic telecommunications hand tools
