Sr. Manager – OSP Planning & Engineering
Job description
Role and Responsibilities
- Works closely with the Director of Fiber Construction ensuring network expansion plans are properly aligned to achieve the department’s goals and objectives
- Lead, execute and deliver multiple planning projects from design to finance approval, focusing on aggressively expanding APB’s fiber network to at an industry-leading pace and cost per passing
- Produce a rolling schedule of viable planning projects for capital funding and estimated builds to satisfy broadband deployment objectives
- Estimate network construction costs, prepare budgets, and track expenses with ROM, BOM and produce reports as required
- Develop short-term and long-term network plans to support product and customer goals, based on current and future planned fiber serving areas
- Work with Marketing and Sales to forecast opportunities for penetration in unserved or planned markets
- Work with vendors and internal stakeholders to ensure projects are on-time and under budget
- Create, update and maintain robust and accurate engineering plant records in a GIS database
- Update and maintain accurate system of record for all fiber assignments
- Manages relationships with regional utilities and local and state governments.
- Prepare, negotiate, secure, and document all necessary permits, easements, and public rights-of-way
- Participate in ongoing educational and networking opportunities in order to maintain current knowledge of network operations, technology changes and matters as they relate to cost-effective FTTH deployment
- Perform daily assigned tasks as related to planning and engineering projects
- Manages a team of planners and engineers and staffs organization accordingly
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related discipline, or the equivalent education and /or experience.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in related engineering or network construction in the areas of responsibility listed above.
- Expert knowledge of CAD and GIS mapping software required. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio
- Expert knowledge in determining light budgets, and fiber optic design specifications and limitations
- Valid driver s license
Other skills
- FTTP engineering design, documentation and cost analysis, and related engineering database recordkeeping
- Knowledge of fiber management and splicing standards
- Good understanding of telecom network topology and customer connectivity.
- Should have telecom network design skills in AutoCAD and any other GIS application.
- Should have experience in Plan and design of telecom networks (Fiber)
- Hands-on experience on telecom networks including OSP and ISP elements
- Experience with Federal and State Grants
- Able to effectively handle multiple priorities with a strong attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $150,000.00 per year
