** Ideal candidate must be based out of Phoenix, AZ to work on local projects in the Phoenix, AZ area. Position also requires 50-95% Travel to other job sites in Las Vegas, NV and other areas within the continental U.S.**
Job Summary:
The Structured Cabling Superintendent will be play a hands-on role that will work closely with Construction Managers and Installation Technicians and is responsible for executing DAS Installation and Head End upgrade projects. This person is a leader capable of managing, training, and mentoring a crew of 3-5 people while on site.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Installing DAS wireless equipment. To include but not limited to the installation of Outdoor and Indoor antennas, coaxial cable, CATV cable, fiber optic cable, CAT 5 cable, DC Power Cable, and other appropriate components to NEC standards.
- Terminating coaxial cable: JMA, Andrews, Trilogy, etc.
- Fusion Splicing and Fiber OTDR Testing.
- Installation of DAS Headend to include DC Power Plant, Alarms, GPS, etc.
- Keeping customer and company informed of progress of installation. Communicating and coordinating with customer and company related to specific safety, local code and company installation requirements.
- Assisting in proposal development and project preparation activities.
- Completing site surveys to troubleshoot and design corrective RF and RF/fiber optic installations for existing systems with inadequate coverage. Report findings to the appropriate staff.
- Assist with development of project schedules and materials/subcontractor selections.
- Mentoring and leading less experienced technicians.
- Expert at Completing Sweep, PIM, and Fiber testing. (Anritsu, Viavi and EXFO Certifications a plus)
- Completing job related documentation and record keeping.
- Assisting in warehouse maintenance and inventory.
- Develop and deliver progress reports, documentation, and presentations.
- Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans.
- Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project team members and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work.
- Handle day-to-day project level customer, contractor, and internal communications – verbal and written.
- Other duties as assigned
Physical Requirements:
- The Superintendent must be self-motivated, positive in approach, and convey an appropriate professional image and meet the Baseband Telecom requirements.
- The Superintendent must promote the Company culture and mission to all employees, vendors, clients, and business partners.
- The Superintendent must possess proven problem-solving skills, critical thinking skills and the ability to effectively read, write and give oral presentation(s).
- The Superintendent must also have excellent organizational skills and the ability to develop branch and job processes and best practices.
- The Superintendent must be highly proficient in interpreting blueprints and other project documents, including but not limited to, specifications, reporting and quality requirements.
- The Superintendent must be able to work at heights, on a ladder and in confined spaces, lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds.
- The Superintendent must be able to see and distinguish different colors, read small print, and hear and recognize audible signals such as dial tones.
Education, Certification, License, and Skill Requirements:
- Must have at least 2 years of in-building DAS installation experience.
- Must have 5 years of cable installation experience in IT, Cable, Electrical, RF and/or Telecommunications fields; and/or 5 years experience in a related technical or construction field.
- Must have high level of understanding and experience performing fusion splicing, fiber terminations, fiber dressing, fiber cleaning and OTDR Testing.
- Must have at least 3 years experience as a Lead Communications Technician or similar position.
- Minimum of 3 years experience of supervisory or managerial experience preferred.
- Must be proficient with a computer and be skilled with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and MS Project).
- Must meet Company minimum driving standards.
- Must have demonstrated verifiable ability to define a project, create a project scope of work, develop detailed associated tasks, and manage these to final completion and customer turnover.
- Must be able to use the following trade Tools: punch tool with 110 block and 66 block blades, 6/8 position combo crimp tool, Krone/3M/BIX, butt set, volt-ohmmeter, 4-pair continuity tester This job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by the employee(s) incumbent in this position.
