JOB SUMMARY
Under general supervision and operating autonomously this role is responsible for the design, planning, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of the overall network infrastructure. This individual will provide technical leadership and consulting across the organization, from strategic decision making down to the project planning and implementation. This position will gain organizational commitment for all network plans, initiate and participate in projects to evaluate technologies, and create implementation plans. In this role the employee strives for superior performance by consistently providing a product or service to leadership and staff that is recognized as ultimately contributing to the patient and family experience. Employees are expected to recognize and demonstrate understanding of patient and family centered care.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design, configure, manage, document, and maintain network equipment with holistic consideration for all hospital systems, initiatives, and needs.
- Design, configure, and manage Fiber Channel Storage Area Networks.
- Design and configure TCP/IP routing/switching, firewalls, load balancing, security systems, intrusion detection and IP telephony solutions.
- Provide ongoing performance recommendations for hardware upgrades, optimization, and redundancy.
- Perform regular analysis of overall network systems, validating the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems, and key processes.
- Implement means of monitoring all critical network infrastructure.
- Ensure overall reliability of network systems.
- Mentor staff and grow skillsets of technical team.
- Define annual budgetary needs and recommend replacement cycles for network infrastructure.
- Install new / rebuild existing network hardware, peripherals, services, settings, in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.
- Participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure.
- Demonstrates knowledge of and supports hospital and departmental mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality statements, corporate compliance plan, customer service standards, and the code of ethical behavior.
- Performs all other related duties as assigned.
- Must be able to communicate effectively, coordinate multiple duties simultaneously, adhere to priorities, and be able to independently solve Information Service related issues.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS
EDUCATION (List required, and preferred if applicable)
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or related fields) preferred with emphasis in Electronic Engineering and Healthcare.
- Cisco, Fortinet, F5, VMWare, Brocade, Juniper and/or other applicable certifications preferred.
EXPERIENCE (List required, and preferred if applicable)
- Five (5) years work experience and demonstrated knowledge of networking in a multisite environment required.
- Telecom / Audio visual experience is preferred.
- IP Telephone experience preferred.
- Healthcare experience preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft Visio preferred.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL ABILITIES/MOTOR SKILLS
- Able to travel independently throughout all Memorial Healthcare facilities.
- Small motor skills required for operating modern computer, office, and telephone equipment as utilized by Memorial Healthcare (MHC).
- Must be able to lift hardware not to exceed 25 pounds.
ESSENTIAL TECHNICAL ABILITIES
- Proficiency using modern office, computer and telephone equipment as used by Memorial Healthcare.
- Ability to use Microsoft Visio to create diagrams, and Microsoft Excel to create spreadsheets.
ESSENTIAL MENTAL ABILITIES
- Ability to adapt and maintain focus in fast paced, quickly changing or stressful situations.
- Ability to read and interpret a variety of documents including, but not limited to policies, operating instructions, white papers, regulations, rules and laws.
- Strong prioritization skills required.
- Ability to analyze large amounts of data, discern critical pieces, and apply this analysis to solution design.
ESSENTIAL SENSORY REQUIREMENTS
- Able to see for the purpose of reading information received in formats including but not limited to paper, computer, reports, bulletins, updates, manuals.
- Able to hear for work-related purposes.
- Ability to lift and hold equipment not to exceed 25 pounds.
