The Telecommunications Technician’s role is to provide a single point of contact for end-users to receive support and maintenance within the organization’s telecommunications environment. This includes installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading all telephone hardware and equipment to ensure optimal performance. The person will also troubleshoot problem areas (in person, by telephone, or via e-mail) in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end-user assistance where required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
These duties and responsibilities described below represent the general tasks performed on a daily basis; other tasks may be assigned.
§ Basic troubleshooting and repairing of telephone and other communications equipment throughout the hospital
§ Responsible for delivery and installation of telephone and communications equipment
§ Performs software programming of the Call Manager System for adds/moves/changes in accordance with established procedures
§ Contributes to the department by accepting special assignments for which he/she is qualified
§ Develops, implements and performs routine preventive maintenance and repair programs and maintains an adequate inventory of replacement and repair parts for telephone and communications equipment
§ Maintains a clean and orderly work space
§ Performs similar or related duties as requested or directed
§ Ensure that physical desktop connections (i.e. RJ-45 Ethernet jacks, RJ-11 telephone modem jacks, etc.) are in proper working order
§ Maintains hospital cable plant
§ Able to take telecom on call duties
§ Maintains competence and upgrades skills through continued education
§ Attend required hospital-wide orientations, meetings, and in-services
§ Demonstrate a commitment to flexible work scheduling when necessary to ensure patient care

Education and Experience
Minimum Required Education: High School diploma
Preferred Education: College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science
Experience: Two years hands-on telecommunications and cable plant experience.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
A+ Certification preferred.

Schedule: Full Time, Days, M-F 8a – 4:30p
