Job Detail
Summarized Purpose:
Designs, implements, and maintains data communication systems or specialized components of a network. Maintains a stable communications environment with appropriate capacity and capabilities at a reasonable cost.
Essential Functions:
- Evaluates, recommends, and implements strategies for LAN/WAN hardware and software requirements and capabilities related to user needs.
- Acts as the primary technical-lead on all major internetworking system outages. Acts as the technical-lead liaison representing Networking and Telecommunications in other business forums.
- Acts as a primary tier 3 support for mid to large scale issues in the communication environment.
- Leverages optimization techniques to maximize the efficiency of all data and voice communications systems.
- Maintains, monitors, and configures communications equipment.
- Conducts analysis and designs solutions to fulfill complex projects and requests for internal and external end users.
- Sets up and maintains communications systems for new and existing offices. Creates and designs voice/data routing infrastructure per PPD specifications including the design and configuration of routing tables that enable global site WAN communication.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualification
- Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 6+ years’ in network communication or telecommunication systems, including training in advanced applications and a minimum of 3 years experience in network communication or telecommunication systems project management) or equivalent combination of education, training, & experience.
- Years of experience refers to typical years of related experience needed to gain the required knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the job. Years of experience are not to be used as the only determining factor in establishing the job class or making employment selection decisions.

- Demonstrated knowledge of network, telecommunication, and/or IT security technologies and platforms
