UTILITIES STRUCTURE TECHNICIAN

Yates Engineering Services (YES) provides the best possible engineering and CAD (Computer Aided Design) services for our clients specializing in telecommunications planning, fielding, engineering, and design. YES needs to provide fielding services for engineering for Fiber to the Home here in Yates County!

YES uses state of the art technology and paperless engineering with GPS measuring devices utilizing ESRI and cloud-based software. YES uses real time GIS (Graphical Information Services) mapping capabilities and sub-meter GPS accuracy.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Field survey poles and fiber routes along pole lines and rights of way:

• Collects pole data according to engineer/client standards
• Transmits data to YES server in a form which can be used by Utility Structure Analysts (USAs)
• Troubleshoots for issues with proposed aerial fiber design and communicates to engineer
• Uploads data collected in a manner accessible to USAs
• Meets production quotas as determined by USA supervisor/Project Manager
• Reports to USA supervisor/Project Manager
• Travel to job sites required

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma
• Strong work ethic and professionalism
• Ability to use ArcGIS Collector app on tablet to record relevant data in the field
• Ability to document other data in forms as specified by manager
• Ability to recognize and identify pole attachment owners and types
• Ability to use digital camera to take photos appropriate for use in pole modeling; ability to use range finder and/or measuring stick to determine pole attachment heights when digital method cannot be used
• Ability to use computer and filesharing service to transmit data to office nightly
• Understanding of principles of aerial fiber engineering and ability to troubleshoot and communicate issues with proposed route
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to withstand extreme temperatures and rugged terrain while carrying equipment

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 – $20.00 per hour
