Our expertise encompasses the full spectrum of system technologies from pneumatic – hydraulic control systems to state-of-the-art programmable solutions to chemical injection systems, and everything in-between.
W-Industries Technology Solutions Group (Houston, Tx) is looking for a mid to senior level offshore automation engineer in the support of, PLC Control Systems in the offshore energy sector.
Requirements
- Support of various Control System hardware and software
- Modification of PLC and HMI/ SCADA software applications compliant with customer/company specifications and/or applicable industry standards
- Participate and lead in controls fault analysis and remediation
- Coordination with project team for scheduling/ scope management and execution
- File a detailed trip report after each deployment
- Customer and project success.
- Safe and responsible operation in offshore environments.
Working Conditions
- Work location to be primarily on Gulf of Mexico Oil Production Facilities.
- Minimal travel to the Houston office when required.
- Most offshore travel is based in Louisiana.
- Typical schedule is 14 days offshore working/14 days onshore at home.
- Home may be anywhere within travel distance to the offshore base of operations.
- Must meet customer requirements for vaccinations, including COVID-19
Required Skills & Competencies
Fundamental Competencies
- Microsoft Windows operating system(s)
- MS Office Applications
- Read and understand P&IDs and general process specifications
- Skid mounted packaged control system familiarity
- Safety within control system application
- Strong/ clear written and verbal communication skills with internal team members and external clients
- Self-motivated with desire to work autonomously. Strong problem solving skills
- General terminology within the Oil and Gas industrial sector.
- Others sectors are a plus
Controls
- Controller/ PLC programming Allen-Bradley ControlLogix
- HMI programming – Wonderware, Archestra System Platform
- HMI Programming Panelview Plus
- Experience programming, upgrading, and maintaining Control Systems
- Controller, I/O, communication module specification, configuration and wiring.
Telecommunication
- Knowledge of Network Architecture
- Knowledge of multiple Control Communication Protocols – ControlNet, DeviceNet, Ethernet, Modbus RTU and TCP/IP, DLR
- Operation and troubleshooting of telecommunication gateway devices
- Instrumentation
- Knowledge of various sensors and transmitters used in process control
- Ability to actively participate in fault analysis of these devices
Electrical
- Control System Maintenance (Block Diagram, Wiring Diagrams, DC Load List, Hazardous Area, etc)
Required Education & Experience
- 5 years of Petrochemical experience, with at least 1 year participating in offshore in Petrochemical support
- Bachelor of Science Degree in any of the following fields: Electrical / Computer Engineering or Control Systems
