Job Detail

JOB PURPOSE:
Identifying and implementing the short-term and long-term information technology needs of Piedmont
Healthcare. Working closely with the IS and other leaders in investigating and understanding
informational, clinical, business and operational requirements of Piedmont Healthcare, including systems
design and development, hardware acquisition, technical project management, in-sourcing /outsourcing
requirements, and integration of all information systems. Manages the Piedmont IS Technology and
Architecture Roadmaps and service delivery through partnerships and vendor relationships leveraging
industry best practices and emerging technologies where appropriate.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Designs technology roadmap and presents to Management for approval.

2. Develops and manages operational and capital budgets to support infrastructure refresh in

addition to new projects and initiatives.

3. Creates and executes an IS plan to ensure alignment of current systems, tools and processes to

support enterprise business plans.

4. Monitors department productivity, quality of output and cost of service in order to assess,

evaluation and continually improve results.

5. Manages staff, to including hiring, firing and performance evaluation.

6. Oversees the maintenance and improvement of the current infrastructure in support of enhanced

reliability, user service levels and security.

7. Manages appropriate policies and procedures to ensure the success of technology initiatives.

8. Ensures that technology projects achieve success and on time delivery, accurate budgeting and

overall quality as expressed by user requirements.

9. Develops and maintains a tested technology business recovery plan in the event of a business

disruption, system failure or disaster.

10. Develops the overall Enterprise Technology Architecture plan in support of the Piedmont

Application and Data portfolio.

11. Guides the development of governance and management of Cloud-based architectures in

partnership with Cyber Security and Application leadership.

12. Manages the delivery of IS services to end users and measures performance via Service Level

Agreements (SLAs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

  • Ability to lead and mentor managers and staff.

  • Skill and ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team.
  • Skill and ability in Microsoft Office applications.

Requirements

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or closely related field.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Ten (10) years of increasingly responsible assignments developing and supporting complex technical
infrastructure in a healthcare system, to include dealing with data networks, system administration,
telecommunications, information security, mobility, system deployment planning, integration, design,
migration and/or lifecycle management in a complex healthcare provider organization.
Five (5) years of this experience to include management or supervisory experience is required.

MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:
None.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s Degree in an area listed is preferred.
Must have work experience with large ASP/SaaS solutions, HIPAA and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX)
compliance, IT Service Management processes and technologies, EMR (electronic medical records)
systems, mobility and hybrid cloud integrations.
Demonstrated ability to be a thought leader and a business partner to senior operational leaders in both
clinical and business settings.
