PLEASE NOTE: The correct compensation for this role is $14.28 MIN & $31.96 MAX based on wage step.

Lumen is currently filling a Network Tech position for SEBRING, FLORIDA. As a Lumen Network Tech, you will be responsible for all aspects of working in the physical Central Office and outside at the associated field network equipment sites.

The Main Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform both corrective and preventive maintenance on network equipment (fiber & copper) which provide voice and data services.
  • Installation/replacement of network equipment (cards) and install/activate physical connections at network locations.
  • Installation/maintenance/ and testing of DS0 & DS1 circuits.
  • Provision equipment based on requirements provided by engineering and construction teams.
  • Proactively monitor and engage in the resolution of alarms generated by network equipment.
  • Engage virtual technical support teams (as needed).
  • Aid network technicians in other areas, both virtually and physically as required
  • Maintain DC power plant at Network locations (including emergency backup power generators).
  • Manage inventory associated with network equipment and engage logistics (procurement support) as needed.


What We Look For in a Candidate

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 10 years overall telecommunication experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years hands on experience with the following network products:

o Nortel DMS-100 and/or Lucent 5ESS (switch maintenance)
o CALIX (E5-400, E7, C7)
o ADTRAN (TA5K)
o Marconi DISC*S
o AFC UMC1000
o DS1 circuits and associated MUX equipment

  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record (must maintain as well)
  • Proficient PC skills with knowledge of MS Office.
  • Proficient with TBERD test unit or equivalent
  • Knowledge of Basic Electricity (or proof of course completion)
  • Demonstrated teamwork skills.
  • Must be comfortable working individually with limited support.
  • Must be able to respond to after hour call-outs, work overtime, shift, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions and at various hours of the day/night.

Preferred Qualifications

  • SONET/DWDM/ROADM/ Fiber Optic transport experience.
  • Certification or equivalent training in the maintenance and operation of CIENA, Fujitsu, and Nokia/Alcatel systems.
  • Experience installing and troubleshooting DS3 & GIGE circuits.
  • Proficiency with fiber characterization (such as OTDR and fiber scopes).tions:
