The Network Infrastructure and Engineering Telecommunication Services (NIE-TS) Group is seeking an energetic and customer-focused quality assurance professional. In this position, you will use your wide-ranging skills and experience to assist NIE-TS to meet current industry telecommunications standards as well as LANL specific communications specifications and standards.
NIE-TS provides telecommunication technologies and services enabling science, research programs, and daily operations at LANL. The group provides the entire Laboratory with voice, wireless, data, and video communication services. The selected candidate will manage quality assurance reviews of construction projects essential telecommunications integration. Bring your experience to LANL’s diverse business environment, scientific, research, and national security facilities.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Working knowledge of outside plant infrastructure for aerial, buried and underground construction.
- Experience working closely with communications designers, subcontractors, and internal organizational personnel.
- Knowledge of telecommunication standards. Including ANSI/EIA/TIA industry codes and the NEC/NFPA 70/NESC.
Education/Experience: Position requires a Bachelor’s Degree and 2 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience with communication record management, electronic cable testing devices.
- Experience with federal facility rules and regulations on communication operations.
- Journeyman electrician
- BICSI RCD Certification
Location:
This position will be in Los Alamos, NM with the potential for a hybrid work arrangement (partially onsite/partially offsite) from a location within 2 hours ground commute of this location. Reporting onsite will be periodically required. Hybrid is at the discretion of management and can change at any time with appropriate notice.

Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. Additional Details
Directive 206.2 – Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Please note that this requirement applies only to citizens of the United States. Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.
No Clearance: Position does not require a security clearance. Selected candidates will be subject to drug testing and other pre-employment background checks.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
Internal Applicants: Regular appointment employees who have served the required period of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory.
