Information Security Specialist Job Detail
Overview:
Oversees network security; provides support to projects that involve network security; performs a full range of duties for detecting, investigating, and defending against information security incidents targeting IT systems and data. Evaluates new network technologies and makes recommendations to project managers regarding the security risks and threats of these technologies. Plans new security configurations for new integrations into the network, using knowledge of the performance characteristics of the systems being added on the network and the security specifications required. Ensures adequate and appropriate information security planning is provided to staff for all hardware, software, and communications changes/updates/modifications. The ISS implements all security methodologies for analysis, installation and support of new systems; and provides information security support in the translation of business requirements into telecommunications (e.g., LAN, MAN, WAN, Voice and Video) requirements, designs and orders.
Will complete tasks assigned by Program Manager (PM). Under general supervision will install, configure, and support an organization’s security protocols for all local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), Agency Internet Network (AIN), Intranet and Internet and other data/voice communications systems or segments of a network system. The ISS performs necessary maintenance and security updates to support network availability and provides support to projects that involve network security.
Responsible for the overarching INFOSEC and COMSEC security requirements for the Agency network.
Place of Performance: Wiesbaden, Germany with possible travel to field sites throughout Europe.
Performs other duties and assignments as required.
Education / Certifications:
BA/BS and 5+ years’ experience with McAfee and Tenable.SC products.

coordinate actions with other network support specialists to plan, coordinate, and implement network security measures.

The Information Security Specialist (ISS) is responsible is responsible for ensuring the installation, configuration, security, and support of an organization’s local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), Intranet and Internet, and other data communications systems. The ISS maintains network security hardware and software; monitors network to ensure network security and availability to all system users. Performs all necessary maintenance to support network security; supervise other network support and specialists and plan, coordinate, and implement network security measures; and will provide leadership/mentorship to junior & mid-level engineers.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education / Certifications:
BA/BS and 5+ years’ experience with McAfee and Tenable.SC products.
DoD 8570.01IAM II certification
Must qualify for Technical Expert (TE) status under the U.S. Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) in Germany.
Secret Security Clearance
Experience / Skills:
- BA/BS and 5+ years’ experience with McAfee and Tenable Cloud Security products
- DoD 8570.01 IAM II certification
- Must have experience with the following to include but not limited to DISA STIGs, HBSS, ACAS and Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager
- CAP
- CASP+CEC
- CISM
- CISSP or Associate
- GSLC
- CCISO
- HCISPP
Supervisory / Budget Responsibilities:
coordinate actions with other network support specialists to plan, coordinate, and implement network security measures.
Provides financial forecasting and requirements planning to the PM/APM as needed for any modifications and upgrades.
