About the Role:

You will provide inter-agency project coordination and advise on pre-award and post-award grant program support to our Federal clients. The role entails leading strategic communications and stakeholder outreach support for Federal grant programs. This role requires assisting Executive Leadership and staff with all communications activities; establishing and maintaining relationships with cross-functional groups; collaborating with colleagues to clearly define project goals, and generating effective solutions to fulfill project needs and objectives. This role entails building relationships and facilitating meetings with senior government officials and state, local, tribal, territorial, and industry stakeholders along with providing day-to-day project management of a diverse team of communications professionals.

Key Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Maintain a strong knowledge base of the broadband grant programs and contractual deliverables
  • Lead the team through the communications strategy development and implementation, including the production of communications and outreach materials like presentation talking points, fact sheets, reports, infographics, press releases, Congressional announcements, and more
  • Manage in-person and virtual event planning activities, serving as quality control oversight and providing task management expertise
  • Provide quality control for all work products developed by the project team to ensure message and brand consistency for client-ready deliverables
  • Identify opportunities to introduce innovations and improvements to the client for enhanced service delivery
  • Develop a rapport with the team and understand the organization, taskings, and workflow quickly
  • Gain an understanding of client needs and build a trusting relationship with key client stakeholders, including navigating the client’s internal outreach processes and becoming a valued point of contact for collaboration and coordination
  • Work effectively with internal and external stakeholders to obtain information and keep projects and tasks on schedule
  • Implement standard project management methodology around ongoing projects such as project plans, project schedules, resource management, issue and risk registers with mitigation plans, task tracking, communication and coordination across projects, and status reporting
  • Develop project dashboards and reports that highlight project accomplishments, statuses, and risks to the client
  • Conduct work with integrity and display sensitivity to working in a high-stakes, high-pressure organization and decision-making environment

Location:

You will work a hybrid schedule as part of a dynamic team in the metro-accessible Washington, D.C. area.

Required Experience/Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 8 years experience leading complex, fast-paced strategic communications and outreach projects with a demonstrated ability to communicate complex strategic solutions and strategies to diverse audiences and all levels of an organization
  • Excellent written and verbal communications (prose and presentation) skills, with a full understanding of AP Style and adhering to plain language and Section 508 compliance standards
  • Data management skills and experience with Excel, including the use of pivot tables and vlookup
  • Ability to oversee tasks and provide leadership and delegation to team members
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment by communicating effectively
  • A keen sense of how to navigate client complexities and roadblocks
  • Ability to gain trust and rapport with the client
  • Receptive to all forms of feedback from clients and colleagues, and proactive to make changes
  • Possess a keen eye for cutting-edge imagery, layout, typography, and color
  • Demonstrates a positive attitude even when faced with changes or adversity
  • Ability to learn fast and work with all types of personalities
  • Ability to work independently and take tasks from concept to delivery
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality assurance
  • US citizenship or permanent resident and the ability to pass public trust clearance or suitability

Preferred Experience/Skills:

  • Experience implementing and evaluating communications campaigns across communications channels (e.g., content development, partnership outreach, multimedia, website development, etc.)
  • Experience working with telecommunications programs
  • A relevant BA/BS degree in journalism, business, communications, public policy, or a closely related field
  • Experience working on government programs
  • Knowledge of existing communications technologies and software
  • Marketing experience
  • Performance management experience
