Assistant Planner Job Detail
At Bouygues UK we have ambitious growth plans for our construction sector and to support this we are offering opportunities in our planning team. As an Assistant Planner you will be based initially in Cambridge (approx. 6-8 months) on our Cavendish project (University of Cambridge’s) which bring together fifteen different research groups consists under one roof, covering 32,900 m2. Then you will move to our Oriel project – a new state-of-the-art eye care, research and education centre based in central London. In both roles you will be reporting into a Senior Planner.
Essential:
- Proven construction planning experience
- Ability to assist in the management of multiple project programmes running in parallel
- Demonstrate understanding of all aspects of development; design, procurement, construction (structure, architecture, services), commissioning
- Effective communication skills; ability to understand key issues and to listen and capture concerns of others
- Use of specialist planning software (one of the following : Powerproject, P6, , Asta, MS Project)
- Understanding of the key features of common forms of contract entered into in UK
Job Purpose and Scope:
- Assist the operation of a planning system in accordance with the planning procedures, providing a consistently high level of service.
- Assist the production teams with planning ensuring that the production teams are delivering the project time objectives.
- Assist in the development of whole life programmes integrating design, procurement and construction activities in both pre-construction and construction, logistics and preliminary items as required during the pre-construction phase.
- Working as part of either the pre-construction or production team, but with dual role as independent assessor of progress, giving confidence in project status to senior management
- Ensuring the company procedures and planning standards are being implemented
- Contributing to the capturing of output rates to ensure company database remains current and competitive
- Liaison with broader planning community, especially technical department
- Production of phasing and logistics plans to support bids
