Aerial Lineman – Telecommunications

$1500 sign on bonus!

Aerial Lineman (MUST HAVE CLIMBING GEAR)

Project Location is in Decatur, TN, must be willing to travel if not local. Mileage, Lodging, and Per Diem is provided.

Overview:

This position must have knowledge of established aerial cable installation procedures and techniques including the placement of strand, fiber, anchors, and proper hardware. Must be familiar with a wide range of tools and equipment, have the ability to read and understand prints/maps, safety rules, and operating instructions.

Responsibilities:

-Install and repair aerial telecommunications cable

-Safely use hand tools and equipment such as: wrenches, drills, ladders, lanyards, saws, lashers, climbing hooks, and more

-Safely operate mechanized equipment such as: bucket trucks, digger derrick, excavators, and mini skid with multiple attachments

-Setting up safety perimeter using signage, cones, safety barriers

-Minor traffic control if required

-Understanding clearance regulations

-Ability to safely work using ladders and climbing gear

Qualifications:

-Previous construction experience, preferably in the telecommunications industry

-Ability to climb telephone poles and work in a bucket truck up to 40 feet

-Able to perform all duties in telecommunications construction such as: pole-transfers, maintenance work, new build, cable installation, over lash, and strand construction

-Able to lift/carry 50 lbs. regularly and up to 100 lbs. as needed with or without assistance

-Ability to work safely and keep others safe while adhering to company policies

-Able to meet the physical requirements of the position, which involves sitting, standing, bending, climbing, lifting, working at heights, in confined spaces, and in all types of weather conditions (rain, snow, heat, etc.)

Requirements:

-Must be at least 21 years old, have a valid US driver’s license with a clean driving record (no accidents in 3 years, no DUI in 5 years), and pass a drug and background screen. Pass pre-employment background check, MVR check, DOT physical exam.
