Structured Cabling Technician

New Jersey based Alliance Telecommunications is searching for a Structured Cabling Technician. The position is based in Parsippany, New Jersey but requires travel in the tri-state area to various jobsites on a daily basis.

Prospective employees should have two years’ experience in the telecommunications industry, specifically in structured wiring.

Responsibilities for this position include –

• Rack construction and installation of network cabling both copper and fiber optics in various settings
• Prepare/install proper cabling pathways and supports
• Be able to read a floor plan and install cable without added instruction
• Terminate cable on jacks at the drop locations and in Telecom Closets
• Operate testers including toners, continuity, and cabling certifying equipment
• Troubleshoot and resolve cable issues without added instruction

Requirements for the position include –

• Valid Driver’s License, reliable transportation and insurance to get to job sites in the tri-state area
• Must be able to use basic hand tools such as screw drivers, hammers and drills
• Must be able to work on ladders and scissor lifts
• Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds at a time
• Must be familiar with Cat 5, Cat 5E, Cat 6 and Coaxial cabling
• Must be hard working, reliable, and be able to pass an extensive background check and drug screen

A high school diploma is required. Certifications from telecom industry manufacturers’ will be considered a plus.

Pay: $22.77 – $24.72 per hour
