Tower Technician
Overview: The tower technician is responsible for installing and maintaining wireless networking equipment located on signal towers. This includes antennas, cables, radios, software, hardware, towers, mounts, excavation, site prep, etc. The tower professional works with teams of two or more.
Reports to: Wireless Infrastructure Manager
Job Status: Non-Exempt
Duties and Responsibilities:
General:
- Install wireless systems in a professional, courteous and safe manner.
- Install wireless systems in accordance with accepted industry and company standards
- Follow all company and industry safety guidelines including 100% attachment to towers when working above 6 feet.
- Maintain accurate site plans for all customer and POP locations.
- Maintain accurate records using available tools
- Be able to account for 100% of daily time in work order system and strive for 80% of that time to be billable to a customer or to WISP maintenance activities
- Be a strong and positive representative of the company to all
- Communicate clearly and effectively to customers, vendors, colleagues and peers
- Maintain accurate inventory levels, inform purchasing when stock is low or depleted.
Wireless Networking Service:
- Install, service, maintain and troubleshoot all aspects of wireless networking
- Perform basic wireless LAN and WAN wireless site surveys
- Install antennas, cables and mounts in accordance with accepted industry and company standards
- Install grounding systems in accordance with Motorola R-56 standards, company standards and local and national electrical codes
- Complete and close work orders in a timely manner
- Efficiently utilize staffing resources
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to work in harsh environments including rain, snow, sleet, hail, extreme cold, extreme heat, high altitudes, etc.
- Ability to lift 75 lbs.
- Ability to travel for extended periods of 2 or more days
- Ability to be on call 24 hours per day, 7 days per week and 365 days per year
- Possess skills necessary to logically and systematically troubleshoot complex network systems
- Understanding of basic Radio Frequency terminology and technology
- Ability to work with no supervision
- Ability to safely work at elevated positions as high as 300 feet above ground for extended periods of time
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 – $23.00 per hour
