coax Splicer

Overview:

The Coax Splicer is responsible for performing tasks associated with the aerial and underground splicing of coaxial cable for cable television systems in an outside plant environment.

Responsibilities:

• Testing, tuning and balancing equipment in order to troubleshoot a service line.
• Repair or splice new line as needed to complete the testing and certification of the project.
• Place and install required coax cable when necessary to complete assignment.
• Install all passive and active devices, pedestals, and vaults and coax splice cases required to house CATV equipment per customer requirements.
• Train and ensure newer employees are learning and using safe work practices at all times.
• Test Coax – RF lines for balanced signal between points – continuity and fault
• Troubleshooting and repair of Coax line and line equipment
• Read and understand site plans, maps and diagrams needed to support project.
• Keep detailed record of work activity
• Any and all other duties assigned by supervisor

Qualifications:

• Preferred: 1-2 years of OSP telecommunication construction experience; cable experience
• Preferred: 1-2 years of experienced in splicing, balancing, and documenting CATV systems
• Ability to read and build from blueprints and wire diagrams.
• Mechanically sound and able to problem solve issues
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 70 pounds
• Must be able to work nights and weekends, if necessary
• Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
• Must have high school diploma or equivalent
• Must have a valid driver’s license
• Must be authorized to work in the United States
• Must be able to pass drug, background & MVR screenings
