Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit, including GO Expansion, Light Rail Transit routes, and major expansions to Toronto’s subway system, to get people where they need to go, better, faster and easier. Our Radio Systems Office is seeking two (2) Radio Communications Systems Specialists to provide cost-effective maintenance and support services to infrastructure and fleet-wide systems at our Willowbrook location.

What will I be doing?
  • Developing, implementing, and maintaining support services for radio communications systems, and ensuring the systems and equipment maintain their usefulness throughout their lifespan.
  • Researching, evaluating, documenting, and updating alternative technological approaches, options and solutions to radio communication complexities.
  • Undertaking projects in support of the maintenance of voice and data radio communications infrastructure and services.
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?
  • Knowledge of radio communications systems technology as well as data and telecommunications normally obtained by a three-year (3) college diploma program in Electronics, Communications Systems, Computer Networks Administration, or an equivalent or higher combination of education and related experience.
  • Minimum five (5) years’ working experience in the communications and/or computer fields, with demonstrated troubleshooting, administration and systems support skills in delivery of radio communications, telecommunications, data networking and wireless communications systems.
  • Extensive knowledge of NXDN and Motorola radio systems and equipment with particular emphasis to trunked analogue and digital radio systems.
  • Good knowledge of radio propagation testing and analysis.
  • Very good working knowledge of specialized RF testing and measuring equipment such as service monitors, spectrum analyzers, TDR equipment, etc.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communications skills, as well as attention to detail.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational abilities, able to work independently, and capable of meeting critical project deadlines.
  • Thorough knowledge of applicable legislation and codes affecting the public, employees, contractors and facilities with respect to health, safety and the environment.
  • Must successfully complete any other training required by corporate policy, and the ability to obtain job related certifications as required.

SHIFT DAYS: Monday -Friday

SHIFT HOURS: 08:00 – 16:15

OFF DAYS: Saturday & Sunday

2. LOCATION: 125 Judson St. Willowbrook

SHIFT DAYS: Monday -Friday

SHIFT HOURS: 00:00 – 08:15

OFF DAYS: Saturday & Sunday

Note: Work at variable shifts and/or locations may be required based on operational needs. These positions may require afterhours/weekends standby on a rotational basis.
