Sr. Manager OSP Construction critical responsibilities:

  • Work directly with the Director of OSP Engineering and Construction ensuring network expansion plans are properly aligned to achieve the Company’s goals and objectives
  • Lead, execute and deliver multiple fiber construction projects through design, build, and delivery, focusing on aggressively expanding APB’s fiber network at an industry-leading pace and cost per passing
  • Produce a rolling schedule of approved fiber projects and estimated build timelines to satisfy broadband deployment objectives
  • Estimate network construction costs, prepare budgets, and track expenses with ROM, managing BOMs and projects within prescribed scope and produce reports as required
  • Develop, implement and manage short-term and long-term construction milestones, deliverables and QA/QC reports for current and future fiber service areas
  • Work with Marketing and Sales to forecast release-to-sales opportunities for homes passed in unserved or planned markets
  • Work with vendors and internal stakeholders to ensure projects are on-time and within and/or under budget
  • Update and maintain robust and accurate engineering plant construction records in a GIS database or other specified system
  • Update systems of record for all fiber assignments when changes occur during construction
  • Manage construction vendors to ensure fiber construction builds are within scope, timelines and budget
  • Responsible for accurate invoice approvals from construction vendors and associated work flows
  • Manage relationships with regional utilities and local and state governments
  • Document and manage all necessary permits, easements, and public rights-of-way for all current builds
  • Participate in ongoing educational and networking opportunities in order to maintain current knowledge of network construction, operations, technology changes and matters as they relate to cost-effective FTTH deployment
  • Perform daily assigned tasks as related OSP construction management
  • Maintain accurate record and report on material consumption by vendors/warehouse
  • Work with Supply Chain to accurately forecast material consumption and usage by project
  • Serve as subject matter expert for OSP construction methods, procedures and materials
  • Manages a team of field construction managers and inspectors

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or a related discipline, or the equivalent education and /or
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in fiber network construction in the areas of responsibility listed above
  • General knowledge of GIS mapping software Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio
  • Expert knowledge in FTTH/OSP design and construction methods and splicing/testing standards
  • Demonstrated experience with owner/operator service provider networks
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screening and background check

Other Skills

  • FTTx engineering and construction documentation and cost analysis, and related database recordkeeping
  • Expert understanding of telecom network topology and customer connectivity
  • Ability to effectively navigate a GIS application
  • Experience with planning and designing telecom networks (Fiber)
  • Hands-on experience on telecom networks including OSP and ISP elements
  • Experience with owner/operator service provider networks
  • Experience with Federal and State Grants
  • Able to effectively handle multiple priorities with a strong attention to detail in a fast-paced environment

Work Requirements

The Sr. Manager OSP Construction will be expected to report to work in the Company’s headquarters in Richmond, Virginia. Travel to regional office locations and field operations will be at the COO’s discretion.

The Sr. Manager OSP Construction will receive a competitive salary based on qualifications.
