FIVE STAR COMMUNICATIONS – Premier Telecommunications Contractor for Cox Communications, Wyyred & has immediate positions open for Telecommunications Underground Field Tech.

Class A Commercial Drivers start at a higher rate of pay and receive 100% Company PAID Medical Premiums. Class A Crew Leaders receive 100% Company PAID Medical Premiums for themselves and all dependents.

Construction or Landscaping Experience Required.

Experience in Cable Construction a plus but not necessary.

Job Description:

Telecommunications Underground Field Tech Job Duties:

– Receive direction from supervisor and Crew Leader each morning regarding tasks needed to perform: Empty truck, load materials and or tools needed for the day’s jobs.

– Must be able to understand and follow work instructions given by Lead man.

– Ability to identify and avoid various underground utilities when digging (reading locate marks).

– Must be able to use various construction tools including but not limited to, 35-pound clay diggers, 90 pound jackhammers, tampers, boring equipment, asphalt/concrete cutting tools, rodders and hand digging tools, power washer, His puller, air bottle and IR tow behind air compressors.

– Remove and replace various peds and vaults where necessary.

– Hand trenching, digging to set 2×3 to 5×6 underground vaults, installing ground rods and digging pole anchors.

– Laying 1″ 2″ and 3″ conduits in open trench.

– Hand trenching, digging to set 2×3 to 5×6 underground vaults, installing ground rods and digging pole anchors.

– Conduit proofing with rodder and mule tape.

– Remove and replace concrete sidewalk flags, block and brick laying and finishing.

– Able to carry various sized ladders on job sites and use on buildings and telephone poles.

– Must not be afraid of heights, and perform safely on ladders.

– Maintain truck and compressor (checking fluids regularly).

– Must be Safety Conscience always during working hours.

– Must be able to work occasional overtime and early morning hours depending on job requirements and work load.

– Ability to help install RG-6, RG-11, .540, .715, .625, and fiber optic cable.

– Be willing to learn to splice the above listed cables and fiber.

– Assemble taps and electronics required for telecommunications.

– Ability to lift to 75 lbs. SAFLEY (ask for help when needed)

– Must be courteous to public, clients and fellow employees

– Working in confined spaces such as attics and crawl spaces.

– Reading and implementing Traffic Control per plan.

– Must be able to do all the above in any type of weather condition.
