Job Responsibilities

  • Install and maintain geotechnical instrumentation monitoring system.
  • Install and maintain remote wireless communication network and hardware.
  • Install, terminate, and test low voltage cables.
  • Route cable through conduit, above ceilings and between floors per job specifications.
  • Verify equipment by testing instrumentation, DC power supplies, network connections, various electrical components; identifying, correcting, or escalation problems.
  • Document network installation by labeling equipment and cables, recording configuration diagrams and specifications.
  • Plan instrumentation and network installation by studying construction plans and relevant specifications, developing equipment and material list, and assessing installation site.
  • Understand technical schematics, operation manuals, maintenance instructions and procedures.
  • Maintain company’s high standards of quality and professionalism with regards to workmanship, customer relations, and team members.
  • Maintain safe work environment and adhere to project specific and company safety requirements.
  • Provide timely and accurate feedback to management through prompt communication.
  • Recognize/analyze recurring issues and provide constructive improvements to prevent recurrence.
  • Work effectively as a team contributor on all assignments.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a construction environment is a plus.
  • Experience installing cabling.
  • Solid understanding of DC power.
  • High School graduate, military training, or associate degree a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to work occasional overtime, as well as irregular hours and days including weekends and holidays as dictated by project needs.
  • Willing to travel locally within NY, NJ, PA.
  • Work independently: perform quality work within assigned deadlines without direct supervision.
  • Communication skills: understand the need for communication and coordination with other team members, departments, or organizations.
  • Interact professionally with other employees, customers, suppliers, vendors, etc.
  • Comfortable working on construction sites and in non-climate-controlled environments.

Skills

  • Good computer skills and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Google apps, and the ability to learn proprietary software used for troubleshooting hardware.
  • Good customer service skills.
  • Must be capable of using hand tools such as cable strippers, cable connector crimpers, soldering irons, and other typical tools used in the telecommunication industry.
  • Must have knowledge of how to use a multi-meter, wire map, and testing equipment.
  • Must be capable of working in confined areas and access areas on hands and knees for occasional and sometimes extended periods of time in order to complete an installation
  • Must be able to climb up and down ladders (8 feet routinely)
  • Must be capable of working over 20 feet from ground level off an extension ladder for occasional and sometimes extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, reach and with hands and arms, for up to eight hours daily.
  • Must be able to coordinate hands and eyes while using automated tools and equipment.
  • Must be able to use one hand for twisting or turning motions while coordinating other hand with different activities.
  • Must be able to handle a variety of items, equipment, control knobs, switches, etc.
  • Must be able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and/or crawl in all environments (basements, crawl spaces, attic/ceilings, etc.).

Pay: $50,000.00 – $65,000.00 per year

  • Monday to Friday
