ICRC Delegation in the Philippines
FUNCTION: RADIO OPERATOR
PLACE OF EMPLOYMENT: DAVAO OFFICE
The Radio Operator operates ICRC’s telecommunications equipment. S/he maintains radio contact and telecommunications between sites, vehicles, and people for the delegation to follow field movements in accordance with its program and security rules.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES * Follows communication and transmission activity via telecommunications equipment. * Ensures constant contact with people moving in the field and takes appropriate action as stipulated under the ICRC’s security rules and internal guidelines. * Proactively maintains information flow on security-related issues * Updates lists of field movements, messages transmitted, etc. REQUIRED PROFILE * Bachelor’s degree in electronics, telecommunication, information technology or similar field. * Capacity to deal with public visitors and address phone calls. * Proven experience in humanitarian or development work is an asset. * Ability to treat information confidentially. * Knowledge of telecommunication equipment (UHF, VHF, satellite, GPS, etc.) is an asset. * Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks. * Attitude to work well under pressure and can adapt to sudden change of priorities. * Good command of written and spoken English and Filipino.
