Senior Network Engineer

General Description

Plans and directs technological improvements and project management implementations. Manages a diverse group of functional activities, and subordinate groups of technical and administrative personnel.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

Management and Reporting

· Deploying and Managing large scale heterogeneous Enterprise IT and Telecommunications infrastructures; Execute full understanding of Layer 3 Routing Protocols – OSPF, BGP, RIP, EIGRP, Cisco OER/PfR (Optimized Edge Routing), IP Routing;

· Execute services in LAN/WAN environment – MPLS VPLS, E-Line, Gigabit Ethernet, Private VLANS; Execute implementing QoS for network and voice traffic management;

· Provide hands on experience conducting Network Analysis and deploying Monitoring tools and assessing reports;

· Execute full understanding of TCP/IP Applications – HTTP/WWW/HTTPS, FTP, SSH, SCP, Telnet;

· Execute full understanding of Virtualization Technologies – VMware vSphere Architecture (ESXi and vCenter), Cisco Nexus 1000v, Cisco VM-FEX, Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS), DCBX and ETS;

· Provide technical leadership in the evaluation, design and installation of state of the art data communication environments;

· Execute and utilize in-depth skillsets to diagnose and correct communications and network problems;

· Execute and work closely with Census client to develop clear requirements for configuration changes, upgrades and develop clear maintenance plans;

· Execute and conduct acceptance tests for new devices installed on the network

· Services required to support large-scale, diverse network environment.

· Layer 3 Routing Protocols – OSPF, BGP, RIP, EIGRP, Cisco OER/PfR (Optimized Edge Routing), IP Routing

· Layer 2 Technologies – Ethernet Bridging, HSRP, VRRP, GLBP, DHCP (server, relay), STP (PVST+, RSTP, MST), VTP, ARP

· IPv6 – Auto Configuration (DHCP/Stateless), Tunneling (ISATAP, 6to4), NAT-PT, OSPFv3,RIPng, EIGRPv6

· TCP/IP Applications – HTTP/WWW/HTTPS, FTP, SSH, SCP, Telnet

· Multicast – PIM (Sparse and Dense), PIM BiDir, PIM BSR, Anycast RP (MSDP and PIM), Auto-RP

· Virtualization Technologies – VMware vSphere Architecture (ESXi and vCenter), Cisco Nexus 1000v, Cisco VM-FEX, Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS), DCBX and ETS

Experience/Education

· Bachelors of communication engineering, providing work direction and review of all tasks. Bachelor’s Degree and 6 + years of relevant experience.

· Cisco CCNA Routing and Switching Certification

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $100,000.00 – $115,000.00 per year

Schedule:

• 8 hour shift
• Monday to Friday

• Suitland, MD 20746: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)

Education:

• Bachelor’s (Preferred)

Experience:

• Computer networking: 1 year (Preferred)
• LAN: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

• Cisco CCNA Certification (Preferred)
