Timmons Group is currently seeking a Telecommunications Analyst to join our team in our Harrisonburg, VA. The Telecommunications Analyst assists in the design, development, implementation, training, and maintenance of systems, software, GIS, and data integration solutions to administrative, scientific, and technical problems through the use of computer technology.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:
- Analyze GPS Positions, photos and attribute data for utility data related to electric and telecommunications assets in the field.
- Identify and Measure various utility pole attachments in the office through photo analysis
- Determine make-ready engineering needs for new pole attachments
- Comfortable working outside on occasion to analyze poles in the field
- Ability to walk moderate distances carrying equipment
- Manages data files daily to ensure data integrity and data security
- Meets or exceeds overall quality control standards established by the client
- Maintains equipment by caring for and providing basic troubleshooting
- Works in an efficient manner while requiring limited supervision
- Works cooperatively with other GIS Field Surveyors, Field Supervisors and/or Project Managers to complete assigned work
- Additional duties and responsibilities as needed
Skills/Requirements of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from four-year college in GIS, Surveying, Engineering, Geography, Information Systems or related degree; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Working knowledge and experience with Esri GIS Software
- Working knowledge and experience with data conversion and analysis tools such as ArcGIS, Ike Office, Pole Foreman, O-Calc, SpidaCalc, etc.
- Working knowledge of NESC and/or RUS regulations and pole attachment types and characteristics
- Must be able to assist the GIS Analyst/project manager in researching and recommending new methods, equipment, or programs to better accomplish tasks
- Good oral and written communications skills; ability to communicate technical information, ability to research, interpret and summarize data
- This individual must be highly motivated, a self-starter; flexible, detail-oriented, enjoy interacting with employees and clients; willing to work at a dynamic pace to complete tasks and meet deadlines; and share a commitment to our firm’s vision, mission, and shared values
