MatchBox Consulting Group is seeking an Electrical Project Manager for our client – a Vancouver-based, growing electrical engineering consultancy. Founded close to five years ago by two industry leaders with a drive to push the boundaries of electrical engineering innovation, they’ve quickly established themselves as an industry leader known for being proactive, responsive, collaborative, and quality-focused. Specializing in building electrical systems design for commercial, light industrial and mixed-use projects, they’ve worked with exciting partners/clients such as Microsoft, Electronic Arts, the University of British Columbia, Vancouver International Airport to name a few.

This is an ideal position for someone who would describe themselves as driven, career-focused, an a born leader as the growth trajectory for this individual includes a path to Head of Design and, ultimately, Partner. They will be involved in growing our client’s team, meeting with clients on site to review design parameters for projects, and lead a project from planning to completion by being responsible for all decisions made.

Responsibilities

  • Design and manage projects from conception to completion.
  • Design building electrical systems in compliance with client requirements, municipal and/or provincial codes and other applicable standards.
  • Design power distribution systems, size feeders and devices, perform load calculations
  • Design lighting layouts and perform lighting calculations to validate designs
  • Design telecommunications systems
  • Coordinate with applicable consultants and design electrical layouts for related systems such as audio visual, security, etc.
  • Constant coordination with all consultants; includes architects, interior designers, mechanical, structural, security, etc. and ensure cohesion between all disciplines.
  • Present designs to consultants and owners
  • Liaise with representatives, manufacturers, suppliers etc. for design assistance and device selection
  • Perform construction administration duties by reviewing shop drawings, responding to RFIs, etc.
  • Conduct site investigations and reviews
  • Internal tasks assigned by the Principals or other members to develop internal processes and help the company grow

Requirements

  • Must be located in or willing to relocate to Vancouver, BC at your own cost
  • Post secondary degree in electrical engineering
  • 5+ years of industry experience
  • Knowledge of power distribution, lighting, telecommunications, fire alarm and life safety systems in buildings. Security and audio-visual systems are preferable.
  • Proficient with technical design calculations, Canadian Electrical Code, BC Building Code, Fire Codes/Standards and ASHRAE 90.1
  • Registered P.Eng. or EIT with EGBC is a major asset
  • Must have strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Possess a strong work ethic and drive
