We are looking to hire and train Entry Level Line and Construction Technicians.

FICOA Communications is a broadband contracting company located in Buford, Georgia. We specialize in construction and maintenance of Coax and Fiber networks. In addition, we perform network upgrades, fiber integration/overlays, and all types of outside/inside plant construction for the telecommunications industry. Recruit must be able meet minimum physical and background requirements, who can work in all types of outdoor conditions. Job Description

Job Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Train to be able to identify and work in proximity of primary, secondary line voltages and other hazards.
  • Train to work in utility bucket trucks and aerial lifts on utility pole lines in a safe manner.
  • Train to perform pole line construction (strand, aerial fiber, and coax on existing utility poles)
  • Train to perform Coaxial Splicing, Node Splits, electronic retrofits & Power Supply Maintenance
  • Train to troubleshoot line issues that affect network performance.
  • Train to perform work fiber related outages.
  • Train to perform pole transfers, set anchors, and rearrange existing pole attachments to clear power violations.
  • Comply with OSHA and industry safety requirements!
  • Work in high traffic conditions with the ability properly setup signs/cones, control, and direct traffic
  • Ensure work is completed is neat and professional manner per company guidelines.
  • Possess good planning, organizational and logical problem-solving skills.
  • Work well on a crew of 3 to 5 people, as well as individual assignments to complete jobs.
  • Highly motivated and willingness to adapt to all types of weather conditions.
  • Emergency response when required due to storm damage or disasters cause network outages.

Position Requirements:

  • Able to perform physical labor (lift in excess 75 pounds) in outdoor weather environments.
  • Able to carry 28’ extension ladder and climb to heights above 18.’
  • Willingness to be trained to climb utility poles when required.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces.
  • Effectively use and maintain PPE provided and follow safety procedures.
  • Ability to work with specialized test equipment, hand tools and all types of motorized equipment.
  • Rearrange existing pole attachments at minimum heights of 18’.
  • Train to transport cable reel trailers to job sites via bucket trucks or other vehicles
  • On-call, Maintenance Window (12-6am) and potential weekend work when required to maintain project schedules or emergencies.
  • Perform construction work such as digging holes to repair cables, placing cable/fiber in trenches, or pulling in conduit when required.

Experience and other requirements:

  • General computer skills
  • Assess all types of job conditions and hazards prior to performing work
  • Possess good communications skills
  • Maintain logs, checklists and write job reports daily!
  • Possess a valid driver license with a clean driving record
  • Train to read blueprints, design prints, SOW’s, and product training manuals.
  • Pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening
  • Willingness to work inside maintenance window (12-6am), when required
  • Pass E-verify and job specific certifications
  • General Broadband or Telecommunications knowledge a plus

FICOA offers medical benefits after 90 days. We offer overtime and on call pay when required. Employee can earn vacation pay after 6 months with company. Applicants that possess some construction background, industry knowledge, or technical experience should apply. Company offers a starting pay of $18.00/hr. should applicant meet minimum field requirements. Incentives for applicants are offered when project timelines require potential weekend or afterhours activity.
