RF & MICROWAVE TECHNICIAN

The RF & Microwave Technician position is responsible for supervising installation, troubleshooting and maintaining microwave point-to-point links. This position requires knowledge of how to configure and troubleshoot microwave equipment from various vendors, understands RF propagation studies and ability to read construction drawings, understanding of FCC rules and regulations and ability to utilize appropriate tools and procedures.

While this position has no direct reports, it is a lead role and is responsible for ensuring proper and timely installation while working with installation crews.

This position requires extensive travel across New York State, in an outdoor environment. RF & Microwave Technicians are adventurers and road warriors and may be traveling Monday through Friday.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

These duties can be performed with or without accommodation:

  • Structured wiring on all coaxial and wired cables as needed at job sites.
  • Installs rooftop deployment on small cell devices as needed.
  • Installs 5G equipment at all small cell sites.
  • Assists in the installation of all aspects of wireless cell site foundations.
  • Ensures proper installation of all transmission lines, such as foam or air dielectric coaxial, hardline and elliptical fiber.
  • Assists in the preparation and cleanup of sites.
  • Ensures proper installation of all up-top equipment including masts, clamping, bracing, supports, antennas, RRUs, cabling, bolting, true up, shooting proper azimuth within tolerances, reading maps and a compass, torque to spec, labeling, picture-taking, documentation, plumb and tilt readings with smart level, etc.
  • Responsible for submitting appropriate close-out documentation per customer requirements.
  • Responsible for antenna installation of microwave antennas.
  • Responsible for proper rigging of equipment and capstan operations.
  • Travels to client site as need, approximately 75% travel mostly within the state of New York. Percentage of travel may vary based on client needs.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or GED required. Associates Degree in related field preferred.
  • Knowledge in Microwave, SCADA communications, Cellular, Broadband Industries.
  • CCENT, CCNA or similar certification is a plus.
  • Willingness to become a Tower Rescue Certified is preferred.
  • CPR/AED and Certification preferred; if not certified, Council Rock will provide certification training at time of hire.
  • OSHA-10 certification preferred; if not certified, Council Rock will provide certification training at time of hire.

  • This role is routinely exposed to outdoor work environment year-round.
  • Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 50 pounds independently and up to 90 pounds with assistance, if necessary.
  • This position requires physical dexterity.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 – $35.00 per hour
