The Sr. Data Center Technician will perform data center related cable and equipment installations as well as contribute to facilitating equipment moves / adds / changes within multiple raised-floor data center facilities. The position also supports data center infrastructure, environmental monitoring and administration, documentation, audit compliance, crisis management, asset management, and metric reporting as directed. You’ll join a data center team providing coverage for our Provo data center but also provide mutual support as needed across any US based Data Centers.

- Possess a detailed knowledge of system and cable infrastructure plus various aspects of data center design and maintenance.
- Organizational skills, procurement, asset tracking ,and participation in stand-ups with perfect attendance is also a must.
- Must be a self-starter and have excellent communication skills.
- Consistently monitor work order output, generating quality metrics reporting, and making recommendations on process improvements.
- As an essential worker you will work onsite at the datacenter.
- Perform testing and troubleshooting for both copper and optical fiber installations.
- Make recommendations based on applicable codes, standards, and best practices.
- Implement the job plan and scope of work as well as perform retrofits and upgrades for existing infrastructure.
Qualifications:
- 3 or more years of prior work experience in a datacenter or colocation environment.
- High School diploma required, higher education is always beneficial, along with any industry certifications such as BICSI Datacenter Technician or Registered Communications Distribution Designer-RCDD.
- Knowledge of datacenter ecosystems including networking, structured cabling, server configuration, installation, and data center builds.
- Ability to work the on-call rotation.
- Must be willing to work off-hours for planned work and unplanned emergencies.
- Familiar with critical mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) infrastructure systems within the datacenter such as UPS systems, emergency generators, various critical cooling systems, computer room air handler and the electrical distribution.
- Experience in computer hardware troubleshooting, component functionality, compatibility, and assembly. Knowledge of test suites, benchmark software, etc.
- Experience in deploying RAID arrays with all common RAID levels, 0, 1, 5, 6, 10.
- Rack and configure Linux, Cisco, and Windows servers in area data centers.
- Experience performing server and network troubleshooting as directed.
- Ability to work autonomously to resolve hardware, software, and service issues.
- Maintain and manage hardware inventory for the office and datacenter.
- Be able to lift and install equipment in excess of 40lbs in cabinets and standing on ladders to install cables in overhead ladder tray.

- Project management skills a plus.
- Knowledge of tools and applications such as Office 365 (Docs, sheets, email), JIRA, Service Now, Device42, PuTTy.
- Knowledge in ANSI/TIA-942-A Telecommunications Infrastructure Standard for Data Centers.
