Description

 

Manages operations of telecommunications services. Maintains contacts with vendors of telecommunications equipment and services.

  • Manages personnel in Telecommunications and Customer Service Operations to include work assignments, training, performance appraisals, and hiring and promotion recommendations.
  • Manages department budget and oversees annual budget preparation.
  • Develops reports and long-range planning for group.
  • Ensures telecommunications service to campus including, but not limited to, campus wide cabling, installation and repair services, telecommunications transmissions systems, equipment procurement and inventory, and development of telecommunication standards.
  • Provides design and support services, along with consultation to departments making changes to their voice, data and video systems configuration and operations.
  • Works with departments in defining guidelines for the development of the technical infrastructure for telecommunications services, and recommends equipment compatibility and network connection policies.
  • Evaluates and oversees equipment purchase procedures, serving as a contact with telecommunications vendors; makes equipment purchase decisions.
  • Oversees maintenance of telecommunications website.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

     

    Bachelors and 5 years experience

    Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Requires a minimum of five (5) years of directly job-related experience.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • 2+ years of Experience with Skype for Business (SFB) telephony
    • Experience with MS Teams telephony. UH is in the process of retiring SFB and migrating to MS Teams telephony.
    • Experience with Call Center applications. Our current call center is Anywhere365 compatible with SFB. The telecom manager will be responsible for evaluating and recommending.

     
    Salary: 5,792.00 – 7,675.00
