Technology Support

Primary purpose

The technology support officer will be responsible for assisting in the implementation of multiple active programmes in the Greater Garamba landscape. The role will provide a support function, while ensuring AP Technology SOPs are implemented and maintained, ensuring the long-term success of technology.

MAIN FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Software and Data;

• Ensure the effective management of Earth Ranger and ArcGIS and integration (Including data collection applications such as Survey 123).
• Management of devices connected to the internet
• Ensuring that data collection tools are up to date.
• Server support and data backup assurance
• GIS data collection and management in the central AP platform (ArcGIS Enterprise).
• Staff cybersecurity.
• Maintain quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards and ensuring the optimisation and full capacity of existing infrastructure including but not limited to VHF, HF, VSAT, Garmins, PTT Iridium, LoRa, GIS, WIFI networks, and various sensors.
• Identify problems and implement technological strategic solutions. Preserve assets by implementing recovery and back-up procedures and information security and control structures.
• Verify application results by conducting system audits of technologies implemented.
• Conduct training with local staff in order to build on technology fluency.

In response to these functional requirements, technologies that are scalable, fit-for-purpose, connected, sustainable, platform-agnostic and cost-effective are fully functional and stable.

CANDIDATE SPECIFICATIONS

• At least two years’ experience in maintaining and developing technologies.
• Flexibility, adaptability, and creativity to develop innovative solutions to challenging situations.
• Strong verbal and written skills in English. Understanding of French will be an advantage.
• Willingness to live in a remote setting and with previous experience living in Africa.
