How You Will Contribute:
The 6500 Router is the flagship product of Ciena’s Packet Optical Transport Portfolio. Optical networks continue to aggressively move towards Layer 0/1/2 converged infrastructures. As part of this more Data Networking and services are available on 6500 products.
Reporting to the senior manager, Routing/IP Software Engineering, you will join the 6500 team to deliver on optical and ethernet network solutions: Hybrid Layer 0/1/2/3 switching (OTN / Ethernet / MPLS / Routing / Segment Routing / Yang / L3VPN / and others).
- You will develop applications which extend the capabilities of the 6500 system/platform.
- Assist in the development of embedded, real-time software for telecommunications systems.
- Partake in coding and testing of the software (Python programming, embedded C programming)
- You will support in testing activities in the release where feature is delivered.
- Working closely with Senior Designers who will provide mentoring and coaching.
- Collaborating with other design and test support teams.

The Must Haves:
- Working towards a post-secondary degree in engineering or computer science
- Python, C / C++ programming language experience
- Experience with design and development tools such as: Git, Eclipse, JIRA, Confluence, GDB
- Familiarity with datacom & telecom concepts such as Ethernet, TCP/IP, Routing Protocols
- Linux, VxWorks OS
- Low-level Real-Time Software/Firmware Development
- Scripting experience, Go, BASH
- Automation and Test
