What you’ll be doing…

You will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, repair, testing, and maintenance of telecommunications and associated electronic equipment and wiring per specifications and operational procedures within the Verizon Network and the Customer’s premises. You will own the resolution of complex customer issues through data gathering, isolation, and problem analysis. You will guide peers, mentor less senior coworkers; and communicate status to management, including the direct manager and group manager. You will Perform complex customer projects and network project assignments that require independent judgment and acts independently based on expertise knowledge and experience on principles, theories, and industry practices.

  • Perform and support all installation and maintenance activity in accordance with operational procedures.
  • Undertake the implementation, commissioning, and maintenance of both CPE and equipment used throughout the Verizon network and customer facilities.
  • Support and coordinate the test and turn up of service with all involved providers and raise any issues on PTT tails or transmissions.
  • Work with Central Teams (GLP) to confirm customer service, field, and remote testing is working properly.
  • Perform emergency repair on the Verizon Backbone and follow up with subcontractors in charge of fiber and cable repair.
  • Support peers in the maintenance of network and customer circuits including scheduled maintenance events (Mastar).
  • Provide on-site technical support in both Verizon and customer sites as well as provide remote technical support to Verizon maintenance centers.
  • Provide testing, diagnostic, and periodic maintenance procedures on facility infrastructure equipment.
  • Collaborate with external contractors on performing installations and repair services. As well as, coordinate vendor support for all installation and implementation work.
  • Participate in complex customer and network project assignments that require independent judgment of principles, theories, and industry practices.
  • Assist in the development and improvement of processes and procedures.

Physical requirements of the job may include, but are not limited to: climbing stairs and ladders, working from elevated areas, lifting and carrying objects weighing up to approximately 60 pounds, pushing, grasping, twisting/bending, and crawling, squatting, or kneeling in small spaces.

What we’re looking for…

You’re tech-savvy and well-versed in all things telecommunications. Working independently suits you well. You’re also thorough, vigilant, and on top of the details—someone people count on to solve problems and to make sure they don’t happen in the first place.

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or one or more years of work experience.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Willingness to travel up to approximately 25% of the time..
  • Willingness to work on-call, rotating schedule (shifts) including nights, weekends, and holidays based on the needs of the business.
  • Knowledge of major platforms IP, Data, Transmission, Voice Switching, WAN/LAN technology and networking equipment.
  • Proven ability to diagnose and resolve issues.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • A degree or Telecommunications/Networking certification.
  • Working knowledge of environmental, cooling, and AC/DC power supply within a technical facility
  • Five years of experience working in a customer-facing field operations environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of testers, testing techniques and associated standards used for delivery of service and repair.
  • Knowledge of circuit layout in F&E/BGW and associated network diagrams.
