L3Harris is in search of an advanced remote field technicians. The technician tasks will include complex installations at FAA site locations and L3Harris point of presence (POP) locations. The candidate will have the ability to resolve complex network issues working with our Melbourne, FL support teams. This individual will support Field Services multiple FAA contracts with end-user support, telecom installations, repairs to a wide variety of telecommunication systems, equipment, and cabling. The candidate must exhibit the following skills: attention to detail, good communication, problem-solving, and the ability to work well with others at all levels. The selected candidate will be required to travel for Field Services for special projects when there is a need for advanced installation, maintenance, and repair support.


Essential Functions:

  • Willing to travel for Field Service Group when there is a special project
  • 8 years of experience supporting FAA critical network systems
  • Proactively review all assigned work in your geographic area
  • Perform advanced installations and repairs with limited to no supervision
  • Provide Technical assistance to other remote field technicians when needed
  • Assume ASL duties within a limited capacity, when the ASL is unavailable
  • Responsible for the installation, repair, configuration, test and preventative maintenance of network equipment, telecommunications equipment, and computers
  • Perform basic software troubleshooting and diagnostics, and assist with the setup and configuration of system hardware and software
  • Provide technical support to end-users and install both hardware and software including operating systems, office applications, and computer hardware
  • Service various network components and network test instrumentation including:
    • Cable connectors and replacements (RJ-11,RJ-45, DB-25, V.35, RS-449)
    • Fiber
    • Multiplexes, Network topology, Frame Relay, Fractional T-1, SONET Network Technology, ATM, Private Line, Voice and Data applications
    • AD and DC including 3 Phase AC
    • M5800, JDSU HST, Ameritech AM5XT, Sage 935, Digital Oscilloscope, Halcyon 704A, Para-scope or other T1/DS3 Test sets
    • T1 Testing Specifications, DS3 Testing, Digital Testing (BERT), and Analog VG Testing within Bell Core Standards
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of repairs, down time, changes, and updates for all assigned tasks
  • Periodically climb ladders and step stools, to reach heights of approximately 10 feet (3.05m), and periodically lift up to 50 lbs (22.67kg)
  • Willingness to work outside regularly scheduled hours to meet operational needs and to respond to after-hours emergency calls
  • Willingness to travel up to 100% of the time to remote sites within a 3-hour drive radius of the base location
  • Ability and willingness to travel outside the 3-hour drive radius when there is a need to do so

Qualifications:

  • Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license, and a satisfactory driving record, as conditions of initial (and continued) employment.
  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 6 years of prior related experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
  • Ability to reach heights of approximately 10 feet (3.05m), and periodically lift up to 50 lbs (22.67kg).

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiar with configuration and operation of the 24VDC & 48 VDC power supplies
  • Knowledge on Network+, CCNA, CCNP, CCNA Wireless, A+
  • Experience working remotely across a geographically dispersed team
  • Willingness to work outside regularly scheduled hours to meet operational needs and to respond to after-hours emergency calls
  • Willingness to travel up to 100% of the time to remote sites within a 3-hour drive radius of the base location
  • Ability and willingness to travel outside the 3-hour drive radius when there is a need to do so

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $81,000 – $150,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
