JOB DESCRIPTION
Gibson Technical Services is seeking qualified Foreman that should-
- Be able to read and understand Coaxial Design (Hybrid Fiber Coax- HFC)
- Be able to read and understand Fiber Design and Fiber to the Home (FTTH) Maps
- Be able to track Daily Production
- Provide a legible Daily Production Report tracking each crew members production
- Understand the Safe Practices of working aloft and maintain a safe work environment for the crew
- Review the job site prior to starting work to make sure it’s safe
- Fill Out a Daily Briefing Form and have it available on the truck
- Provide a daily briefing to the crew prior to starting each days task in the work zone emphasizing the areas that may be a safety concern
- Maintain all Safety equipment required for a safe work Zone, signs, cones, wheel chocks
- Train team to set up a safe work zone
- Make sure a traveling ground in in place prior to installing strand
- Make sure all vehicles and trailers are inspected daily prior to leaving yard (check fluids)
- Make sure all vehicles and trailers are set up safely in the work zone
- Make sure the work zone is picked up each night collecting all signs and cones
- Teach Lineman superior lineman skills
- Teach Ground Hand superior ground hand skills
- Practice a strong mentorship regarding
- Being on time
- Checking the truck each morning to making sure it clean and stocked
- Teach the crew to read a map and understand hardware requirements and grounding and bonding requirements
- Teach the crew the proper way to handle fiber and coaxial cables
- Always maintain the utmost importance of safety driving and working
QUALIFICATIONS:
Able to climb poles as needed
Able to splice coax
Able to complete pole transfers
Capable of installing power supplies
Able to build aerial plant to include running/lashing/over lashing strand, coax, and fiber cables in new and rebuild construction.
Capable of utilizing associated tools for the above-described work.
Qualified to operate a bucket truck.
Qualified to follow safe work practices with a strong understanding of OSHA/DOT standards for construction.
REQUIREMENTS:
· Must be 21 or older
· Have a good driving record
· Able to pass Background and Drug screening
· Able to obtain DOT Medical Certification
· Able to work with minimal supervision and complete tasks assigned in a timely manner
JOB SUMMARY
A successful Aerial Line Person (Aerial Construction Lineman) shall access specific areas to install, maintain, and/or repair a customer’s telecommunications equipment. At a minimum, the position requires a good working knowledge of telecommunications construction; familiarity with aerial lift devices, utility lines and poles, and the functionality of each; ability to use cable placement equipment… and tools; ability to identify and troubleshoot problems.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. the ability to work safely, with or without supervision;
2. the ability to work standing, at shoulder height and overhead, for extended periods;
3. the ability to lift and manipulate lasher and other cable placement equipment;
4. the ability to work aloft, either from a ladder, aerial lift device, or by gaffing;
5. excellent manual dexterity;
6. the ability to follow instructions and communicate verbally and in writing;
7. the ability to operate equipment, including, but not limited to an aerial lift device, lasher, and hand tools, and understanding the functioning thereof;
OTHER DUTIES:
1. Completion of low level and high-level labor-intensive tasks as well as operation of assigned construction equipment.
2. Completion of daily production reports to document work performed.
3. Use of hand tools, ladders, and equipment to assist in the completion of an assigned project.
4. Clean and maintain supplies, tools, equipment, and work areas in order to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
5. Additional Duties as assigned.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Exposure to varying temperatures as work is primarily outside.
Noise levels are moderate to heavy.
Work in different types of terrain including water, sand, and dirt.
Varying degrees of light as work may begin early morning and continue in the evenings
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
This position has no supervisory responsibilities
PHYSICAL AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to carry 60-70 1bs, to include an extension ladder.
Must be able to work at 28 feet or higher.
Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
Must be able to bend, stand, sit, crawl, climb and lift throughout work shift.
TRAVEL
Travel from home with multiple overnight stays is required with this position.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Must possess a valid Driver’s License during the term of employment.
