Ambulance Communications Officer I

Community Employment Services


o Process emergency and non-emergency requests for
ambulance and fire response
o Communicate with individuals under stress
o Provide pre-arrival instructions
o Direct and coordinate ambulance and fire unit movement
o Operate complex computer-aided telecommunications
equipment

o Minimum 18 years of age, and Grade 12 education or equivalent

o Communicate effectively and tactfully, both oral and written
o Read, interpret, understand and apply complex and
overlapping policies
o Strong multi-tasking, organizational and prioritization
skills
o Ability to maintain control under pressure, work at a fast
pace in an unpredictable environment
o Demonstrate problem-solving and critical thinking
o Make sound, independent decisions, and exercise
discretion during emergency/difficult/stressful situations,
and be accountable for such decisions
o Establish and maintain effective working relationships with
coworkers and stakeholders
o Strong computer literacy, data entry, retrieval and
keyboarding skills
o Experience in Emergency Services would be an asset

Job offer conditional on:

Satisfactory criminal record check; current standard first aid and CPR certificate; successful completion of all training requirements and ACO Provincial Certification; and Restricted Radio Operator Certification
