The American Academy of Dermatology is seeking a Manager, Network Administration, located in our Rosemont, IL office. This role is responsible for analyzing, modifying, testing, implementing, and supporting the electronic communications, networking, and servers of the organization. Duties also include recommending and implementing hardware and software purchases for the organization. This position will provide technical support to Academy staff regarding the appropriate use of information systems technology. Additionally, the Manager, Network Administration is responsible for coordinating security on all networks, servers and end user technology as well as administering firewall and VPN connections.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures relative to troubleshooting, operating software, patching, hardware maintenance and network tuning. Train fellow staff members, as appropriate, in securing and managing existing network systems and resources. Ensure daily backups are taken of production servers and data is appropriately secured and regularly tested.
  • Maintain and manage technology in colocation facility and cloud environments. Monitor systems for effectiveness and reliability. Develop and safeguard system documentation relative to network architecture, topology, design, and operating systems.
  • Perform expert level telecommunication and operating system maintenance. Monitor and perform necessary network(s) system maintenance and modifications in order to assure the performance, security of and operational integrity of all network(s) and telecommunication system components utilizing a hardware and infrastructure support methodology.
  • Maintain accurate software license records for compliance with third party licensing agreements. Perform regular audits on all Academy computers to satisfy fulfilment of licensing requirements.
  • Develop and maintain a security policy for data integrity that aligns with business goals and protects corporate data assets and member confidentiality under all applicable laws and compliance policies. Implement measures to prevent virus attacks and other intrusions to minimize damage when they occur. Audit user systems for possible intrusion. Develop security reporting system that identifies breaches and documents current security environment.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies to recommend enhancements to the existing technology environment and VoIP systems. Determine opportunities for new products and effective use and application of information technology.
  • Responsible for equipment budget development and hardware and software purchases for all departments.
  • Provide technical assistance regarding all Information Technology issues for the various AAD (American Academy of Dermatology) meetings and conventions. Provide consultation to end users to determine hardware/software or system functional specifications as needed.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or equivalent experience.
  • Eight plus years of expertise establishing and supporting local and wide area network and cloud instances running under VMWare utilizing Microsoft server technology.
  • Cisco networking and VoIP proficiency required.
  • Experience managing enterprise security and firewall systems required.
  • Management/supervisory experience in an enterprise environment highly desired.
  • Weekend and after hours are required and will be required to be on-call for technical issues as needed.
  • Comprehensive understanding of providing technology to a diverse user group emphasizing industry standards.
  • Through knowledge of network management, remote access, Office 365, Microsoft Exchange, cloud networking, security and telecommunications providing a stable and secure business environment.
