Reporting to the Senior Advisor, IT Network Services Owner, the Analyst, Managed Services, Network & Telecommunication updates guidelines, directives and standards for all aspects of the network and telecommunications. They ensure stakeholders, including service providers and business units, adhere to practices. They monitor the responsibilities of service providers to maintain and improve the network and telecommunications. They put together business needs and analyses, translate them into project or operational requests, and oversee deliverables, schedules, budget and quality.
They are involved in all activities related to telecommunications network analysis, planning, implementation, follow up and problem solving and any other studies on subjects related to their field of expertise.
Responsibilities :
- Keeps track of incidents, issues and requests for changes in the service provider’s VIA management systems;
- Ensures service provider compliance with VIA Rail standards;
- Contributes to network and telecommunication operational management;
- Helps resolve complex problems and proposes solutions;
- Works with service providers to analyze problems, identify the cause, determine preventive measures and follow up on action plans;
- Proactively questions and monitors performance, indicators and all contracted services, and continually revises practices to suggest adjustments and ensure quality service for users;
- Makes sure service providers fulfill their commitments and meet service levels;
- Follows up on service levels and penalties within the incumbent’s area of responsibility;
- Helps develop and manages implementation and operational support activities for all aspects of the network and telecommunications;
- Works with internal clients to determine and interpret needs, and pass them on to service providers according to procedures;
- Works closely with project directors and business units to carry out projects that meet business needs, comply with VIA Rail standards and are completed on schedule;
- Provides network and telecommunication expertise for technological projects and changes;
- Provides subject matter expertise on network and telecommunication architecture, and contributes to strategic and tactical guidelines to align positions and develop the network and telecommunications;
- Creates documentation, diagrams, procedures, lists, inventory, CMDB, etc.;
- Ensures network and telecommunication documentation is up to date.
- Undergraduate university degree in computer science or equivalent;
- 7 years of relevant experience, including at least 5 years in an operational position in network and telecommunications or a management position in managed services.

- Knowledge of cabling principles (indoor / outdoor, copper, fiber-optic, distribution, structured cabling);
- Excellent knowledge of collaboration tools like TEAMS / WEBEX / Skype;
- Expertise in integrating VOICE services into the network is an asset (DID, IVR, Messaging);
- Expertise in SD-WAN network deployment and management;
- Expertise in WAN / LAN network deployment and management;
- Expertise in the deployment and management of WiFi networks;
- Certification: CCNP or similar;
- Expertise with CISCO equipment (Router / Switch / FW);
- Expertise with F5;
- Expertise with PaloAlto;
- Expertise with VPN;
- SolarWinds management tool expertise;
- Cisco ISE expertise;
- Routing protocols expertise (BGP, OSPF);
- Coordination and integration expertise with TELCOs;
- Availability for paid OnCall on a rotating basis.
