A telecommunications client is looking for a Network Transport Engineer to focus on traffic studies on the backhaul of the transport network and providing resolution for the Central Gulf Coast network.

Pay Rate: $45/hr on W2
Duration: 12 months or longer

JOB DUTIES:

The new Transport Engineer position will mainly focus on traffic studies on the backhaul of the transport network and providing resolution for the Central Gulf Coast network that contains, eastern TX, southern LA, Arkansas, western TX, southern AL, Mississippi, and western FL. This position will be engaged in the planning, design and execution of all traffic needs related to normal bandwidth upgrades as well as projects tied to LS6, 5G, CRAN, VRAN, MEC projects as well as upcoming emerging technologies. This position will closely collaborate with various stakeholders (RF, Implementation, Ops, Construction, RE, Vendors, and HQ) to help optimize the designs of these technologies and reduce re-work.

The Transport Engineer works with a group of engineers who regularly evaluate the optimization of the transport network, including fronthaul, backhaul and microwave networks. The transport team is responsible for creating, designing and issuing CIQs(IP/Ports assignments) and engineering new cells, trunks, cell and switch growth, circuit ordering and voice & EVDO carrier additions. This position must understand Client’s Telecom products such as Native Ethernet, Ethernet over SONET, microwave and Dark Fiber.

Additional responsibilities:

• Work closely with all groups within the Network team including RF Design, Real Estate, Construction, Operations, Facilities, System Performance, and the Area Planning team.
• Manage vendors to meet targeted network milestones and turn-up dates.
• Provide input for budget and overall planning
• Work within the financial constraints of the allocated budget
• Project management of new technologies/services in the region related to cell site engineering and operations
• Attend frequent project update meetings to present the current status of pending and ongoing projects
• Adopt current methods/procedures for interconnecting tracking
• Consistently work to improve processes that assist in communication and coordination with other network teams.

MUST HAVE SKILLS:

• Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
• 6 or more years of relevant work experience.
• Experience to analysis and provide reports on traffic for transport backhaul
• Self-motivated, show initiative and be able to work independently.
• Experience in the cellular or telecommunications industry.
• Knowledge of related interconnect circuits type and features i.e. SONET/Dark Fiber.
• Knowledge of wireless 4G and 5G wireless services as it pertains to architecture
• Able to multi-task multiple projects.
• Project management.

DESIRED SKILLS:

• Experience with XNG/Granite circuit database.
• Experience with Fuze project management tool.
• Experience with ordering circuit process.
• Financial management experience – budgets, purchase orders, receiving
