Position Summary
Will be responsible for the management of the Cisco VoIP environment. The position will support the current on premise VoIP environment, efaxing and emergency notification systems. The position will review the state of cloud IP services and drive the investigation, design and integration of VoIP to the cloud. In addition to the phone system the position is also responsible for several call centers supporting Finance, Law, Enrollment, IT and other departments around campus.
Essential Functions
Cisco Call Manager systems
1. Supports Voice services in three primary data centers
2. Insures the operation of all system endpoints
3. Insures the server environment support voice services is kept up to date for operation and security
Community support
1. Maintains and develops training in support of endpoints, voicemail and other VoIP integrations
2. Works with client services teams to quickly resolve issues
3. Maintains the operation of the expense management system and insures propper billing occurs
Essential Asst Director Functions
1. Develops and supports hardware, software and service provider connections
2. Reviews and makes changes where necessary to trunks services
3. Reviews current operations and develops new strategies to meet current and future requirements
4. Manages the daily operation and activities of onsite staff and third party resources
- Leads in integration of application (cloud and local) to communication systems
- Manages services required for the operation of a Cisco Unified Communication system
- Administers the processing and implementation of requests from various departments and divisions for moves, adds and changes of telecommunications equipment and services
- Manages the daily operational activities of onsite staff and students
- Evaluates and reviews all telecommunications facilities, systems and networks in terms of sustainability, efficiency of operations and cost effectiveness
- Assists in developing and maintaining the operating, non-recurring, equipment and budgets for telecommunications
- Monitors and evaluates ongoing expenditures and departmental cost allocations through use of current Telecom Expense Management system (TEM), including issuing monthly reports for end-user organizations
- Works with Client Services to rectify telecommunications issues
- Provides insight into telecommunications requirements for new construction projects and procures bids for equipment, systems and services
- Develops technical specifications for the procurement of telecommunications systems and services
- Develops recommendations for changes in facilities, systems and services for maximum efficiency, appropriateness of application and cost-effectiveness
- Evolves IT’s performance management program into a strategic talent management program
- Drives strategies to ensure that individual and team performance is consistent with overall IT and University strategic goals, business initiatives, priorities and values.
- Develops, implements and administers the telecommunications infrastructure in conjunction with construction and renovation projects
- General Asst Director Functions
- Managerial responsibility within a function, with responsibility for setting expectations, defining roles and coaching team members, hiring and staffing, staff development and succession
- Challenges and enhances analytical approaches or tools
- Reviews and validates analysis, and develops recommendations in context of functional area or full project
- Facilitates constructive communication across the team
- Ensures team awareness of and familiarity with industry standards
Additional Functions
- Works with Public Safety and their vendor in support of emergency notification systems
- Manages varied conference systems
- Works with Network operations team to ensure ticket resolution
- Ensures that all on premise telecom hubs are kept up to date
- Works with all teams to decommission legacy communication services
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- 5-8 years relevant experience
- Strong understanding of technical, business and cultural environment of higher education in general and Fordham in particular
- Demonstrated expertise in:
- Customer service
- Ability to interact professionally with staff, faculty, and students
- Execution of project plans and delivery of results
- Analytical/problem solving skills and technical skills
- Successful candidates should have a knowledge of and commitment to the goals of Jesuit Education.
Preferred Qualifications
- Understanding of TCP/IP
- Understanding of current and legacy local and wide area telecom systems or infrastructure
- Understanding of video conferencing system and their integrations into telecom systems
