Position Overview
This entry-level project management position will focus on the quality control portion of a major powerline project in western Colorado. The goal is for the Assistant Project Manager to gain real-world experience and learn our process and industry from start to finish, beginning with quality control. This is a hands-on position that will require
- This position will require you to be onsite, near Maybell, CO, for the duration of the assigned project (estimated 1.5 years). Subsequent projects will require travel to additional locations.
- Review and approve all QA/QC forms submitted by field inspectors.
- Create, update, and maintain the project submittal log and all other project-specific quality control reports.
- Review drawings and submittals for conformance with project specifications by direct review and by leveraging the knowledge and experience of others in the project team when necessary.
- Chair and document weekly QC meetings with the superintendent and provide written minutes as described in project-specific contract documents
- Provide daily QC reports that reinforce construction activities in conformance with each specific project’s established standard and constructively confront non-conformances to produce the desired outcome on time.
- Conduct preparatory, initial, and follow-up meetings to understand the standards of care desired for each definable feature of work.
- Verify and document that all materials received for the project conform with the approved submittal, are handled and stored appropriately, and are acceptable for use in the project.
- Coordinate and document the testing and commissioning of building systems.
- Perform quality control testing and inspection in adherence with contract requirements and company best practices.
- Train inspectors on duties.
Requirements
- Relevant degree and/or work experience required
- Must be willing to work out of Maybell, CO, or travel full-time to that location
- Must be willing to travel to field locations to inspect structures regularly
- Strong written and oral communication
- Must pass mandatory drug screening(s)
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Project, and applicable safety software
Compensation: The range for this position is $28-35 hourly (overtime pay provided for qualifiable hours worked). Per diem is provided to cover living expenses.
