CAD Technician, Fiber Optic

Ellis Engineering is a telecommunications company that performs, fiber engineering, construction management, utility coordination, site acquisition, zoning and permitting services. As an EEG CAD Technician, you will be responsible for creating and modifying construction drawing packages that will be used for construction and permitting. This position will also assist in the development of construction designs and layouts for various site configurations. Additional responsibilities include creating standard drawings and notes, cad details and miscellaneous cad items.

Ellis Engineering Group (EEG) is seeking an experienced CAD Technician for Telecommunications.

Essential Functions:

• At least 1-3 years of experience in the Telecommunication industry.
• Create and modify EEG drawing packages and permit drawings.
• Interpret engineering designs, red-lines and incorporate into EEG drawing packages.
• Work closely with senior designers to develop drawings, calculations and completion of projects.
• Organizes and analyzes drawings prior to setup and discusses project complexity and time estimates with technical and supervisory personnel.
• Provide technical support to design engineers, project managers and other technicians.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently with multiple priorities.
• Managing workload and ensuring a consistent quality of deliverable.
• Collaborating with others in developing and maintaining client’s CAD standards and operations.
• Able to read and interpret civil construction plans
• Candidate must be able to complete the following task but not limited to:
• Have experience with right of way knowledge, parcels, EOP’s, Storm and Sewer structures, Plan and profiles. Knowledge of M.O.T, R/R, Road Signals a plus not required.
• 3-5 years of Professional experience with AutoCAD 2018 or Civil 3d 2018.
• 1-2 years of experience with Excel, Microsoft Products, Outlook, PDF X-change Editor along with general computer proficiency.
• Must have knowledge with Google Earth and KMZ’s.
• Must be able to read and understand general mapping
• Organizational and follow up capabilities.
• Accountability and delivery on deadline commitments and quality.
• Ability to work and communicate effectively in a team environment.
• Oral communication skills; upward communications.
• Attention to detail, quality work products, and client service.
• Maintain project drawing files, drawing library, and associated records and documentation per company policies.
• Possess a valid driver’s license

Job Requirements:

A minimum of (3) years’ experience performing CAD operations for civil or telecommunication engineering consulting firm or willing to train with other met experiences.

Proficient with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Basic mathematical skills, e.g. averages, percentages.

High School Diploma or equal to / Associate degree in a related field is a plus.

Must be able to work in Plainfield, IN.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 – $30.00 per hour
