Position Summary
In this role, you will manage existing customer accounts from a sales perspective and actively pursue new business opportunities with existing and new customers.
Job Objectives/Initiatives:
- Identify new market/customer opportunities.
- Strategically target and close on new business opportunities with current and new customers.
- Perform all sales-related functions with purchasing, engineering, quality and finance for all customer and Prestolite locations.
- Manage sales accounts to meet or exceed annual financial plan objectives.
- Visit Prestolite’s manufacturing facilities regularly to communicate customer expectations, report progress activities, and work closely with plant strategic business unit team.
- Visit customer locations as needed to support the business and maintain good relationships.
- Supports program management and new launch activities.
- Develop an in-depth understanding of customer organizations, as well as their technical and commercial needs.
- Work closely with technical partners to identify and strategically target new business opportunities.
- Communicate customer activities and sales activity to management through both verbal and written weekly/monthly reports.
- Facilitate periodic status meetings (internal/external) with key disciplines to ensure business teams are focused to meet both customer and corporate objectives.
- Gather and provide competitive feedback concerning activities within the assigned sales area.
- Provide sales input to support the annual financial plan.
Qualifications & Experience
- BS degree required, MBA a plus.
- Minimum 5 years of automotive and/or technical sales experience, preferably in the Wire Harness Industry.
- Industry contacts and knowledge of OEM procurement and Tier I systems and procedures.
- Electrical experience a plus.
- Ability to demonstrate exceptional negotiation and “closing” skills.
- Thorough knowledge of MS Office required.
- Ability to read and understand financial statements a plus.
