Exciting Administrative Specialist 2-Benefits Support Coordinator position on our Salem, Oregon on the beautiful Oregon State Hospital campus!
Throughout a patient’s hospitalization, the person in this position consults with Social Workers, physicians and patients, in person. Prior to discharge, the hospital must be in compliance with Federal, State, and hospital policy and Joint Commission Accreditation requirements. The person in this position works closely with Social Security, Medicare, Adults and Person with Disabilities, Health Systems, Disability Determination Services, Low Income Subsidy and the Oregon Department of Veteran Affairs.
What will you do!
This position begins working with patients, in person on their cases at the time of admission related to their Medicare part B and Group Payer benefit status. Additionally, this position presents information or explains program rules and guidelines to the families, guardians, department staff, program participants, partner agencies and the public to assist in their understanding of and compliance with Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid programs. Auditing and completion of Health Analytics Report for discharged patients with Medicaid.
This position works hospital wide serving patients in both the Forensic Psychiatric program and Civil Commitment Program and receives referrals from a team of social workers, both at Salem and Junction City Oregon State Hospitals. Work performed will required engagement with a full range of individuals from physicians to patients, guardians and families.
A portion of this job requires using judgment in following up with information after the time of discharge, because some Federal and State laws, and a certain portion of the application process continue after discharge. This requires developing a plan with private providers, community mental health organizations, and the consumer to continue to overcome the barriers to receiving services.
Because the person in this position represents Oregon State Hospital to all the external agencies mentioned above, it also requires good public relations skills and diplomacy, as well as timely follow-up.
These services are essential to case coordination in support of a patient’s community integration and includes linking patients to community resources, establishing insurance and other benefits, and liaising with various state-wide legal and mental health systems.
  • Standard office hours for this department are 7:00-6:00 p.m. (Telecommute opportunities range from 10-40% of your schedule, depending on the needs of the patients and hospital)

Minimum qualifications
Two years of experience as an administrative specialist or executive support specialist which included administrative support for a project, program, or operation. Administrative support includes those duties beyond clerical/secretarial such as: interpretation of laws, rules, and regulations; administrative data collection and analysis; and evaluation of projects, processes, and operations;
OR an equivalent combination of training and experience.

One year of postsecondary education be substituted for up to one year of the experience.
