Job Details:
The Maintenance Manager position is a field management position and works under the Outside Plant Manager. This position is responsible for the daily service and maintenance of the company’s fiber and coaxial infrastructure. This individual manages a team of Service and System Technicians throughout a wide service area. The Maintenance Manager is responsible for the quality of the delivery of the Opticaltel RF video, IPTV, internet and phone product throughout the assigned service area. This employee has shown mastery of all technician positions within the company from Broadband Technician I through System Technician and is capable of performing all functions of these roles as needed
Specific Job Duties:
Manages the daily operations of the Opticaltel headends within the assigned service area to verify services are delivered as expected to our customers.
Manages a team of skilled Service and System technicians assisting them with daily tasks and providing guidance and training as needed.
Works in concert with the Field Services team to identify potential service impacting issues and develops plans to remedy the issue.
Monitors the assigned systems for return noise issues, degraded video quality, voice quality and overall system performance and responds to any issue quickly to reduce any negative impacts to our customers.
Performs system proof of performance testing at the headend and in the field to maintain adherence to all FCC requirements including ingress/egress testing.
Works with Engineering to manage the Opticaltel IPTV platform and verifies channel assignments, bandwidth allocations and frequency spectrum usage and assignment.
Monitors and manages the DOCSIS platform focusing on upstream and downstream characteristics and assigns the appropriate team member to fix/adjust any field equipment needed for proper operation.
Maintains detailed system reports, configuration files, headend logs, headend generator/backup system maintenance documents and other critical facility, system and performance files.
Works with field team and Outside Plant Manager to complete weekly, monthly and quarterly reports on system performance.
Provides the Outside Plant Manager and upper-management plans for new technology deployments, the integration of additional or new equipment, potential equipment upgrades and other pertinent details as they relate to the overall performance of he assigned service areas. Works in conjunction with all departments providing insight and assistance with the deployment, maintenance and upgrades of the Opticaltel product.
Minimum Job Requirements:
High School diploma required.
University/College degree in relevant field a plus but not required.
5+ years of cable TV experience required.
3+ years of experience in the maintenance and service of HFC and Fiber systems required.
2+ years of experience with the maintenance and service of satellite and off-air based communications required.
Able to read and decipher HFC, coaxial and FTTH design maps and splice documents.
Proficient in the use of various test equipment including, but not limited to spectrum analyzers, signal level meters, TDRs, OTDRs, fiber power meters and VFLs.
Proficient with the operation and setup of headend equipment including, but not limited to satellite IRDs, RF and network based switching equipment, amplifiers, combiners, PON OLT components and DOCSIS CMTS equipment.
Proficient with the operation, setup and maintenance of all actives, passives and other HFC/coaxial/PON infrastructure.
Proficient in all Microsoft suite applications including Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point, Teams and others as needed. Strong Leadership, interpersonal skills and organizational faculties.
Good judgment and decision-making abilities.
Highly organized with a strong problem-solving aptitude and meticulous attention to detail.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and operate at heights up to 40 feet using extension ladders and/or bucket truck. Ability to work while standing 50-70% of the time.
Ability to work near power lines and active electrical services.
Ability to work extended hours and a rotating on call schedule as needed to meet business needs and deadlines.
A valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record that fall within company requirements.
Must be able to travel to and from all company territories and facilities, including during inclement weather.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $62,500.00 – $80,000.00 per year
